When the Disney movie Zootopia was first released in 2016, it was an instant hit at the box office. The movie featured the voice talents of Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps, a small town bunny with dreams of being a police officer in the big city of Zootopia, and Jason Bateman who played the sly fox Nick Wilde who ended up teaming up with Hopps to solve one of Zooptopia's biggest mysteries. Other big name stars such as Idris Elba, Kristen Bell, and Shakira lent their voice talents to the movie that grossed over $1 billion at the box office worldwide.

Despite its incredible success, it didn't seem like Disney had any plans for a sequel to the hit movie, but now one of the movie's voice actors has revealed that there may actually be two sequels to Zootopia in the works. Tommy Lister, who voiced the character of the Finnick in the original movie, made the announcement during a meet and greet, Blog Mickey reports.

"I can tell you for sure I’m doing another Zootopia with Disney," Lister said. "We doing three of them… We the biggest film that Disney is producing. The last one was 240 million. This one I’m hearing will be 300 million. That’s what they spent on the budget, not the advertising."

Although Lister has revealed the plans for two upcoming sequels, Disney has yet to confirm the news. They have however recently revealed that they would be opening a Zootopia-themed land in Shanghai Disneyland. According to their press release, "when Zootopia opens, guests will experience a new major attraction that seamlessly blends Disney’s storytelling and state-of-the-art technologies, as well as new entertainment, merchandise and food and beverage offerings that provide them with more to experience at Shanghai Disneyland than ever before."

Zootopia was such a hit with children and parents alike that not only did it break box office records, but it also took home an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2017, so it's no surprise that Disney would want to bring more of the world of Zootopia to the viewers that enjoyed it so much. Disney does have a lot on its plate right now with the eagerly anticipated final installment in the Toy Story franchise, Toy Story 4 coming this summer as well as the live action versions of The Lion King, Dumbo and Aladdin and superhero flicks Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel, just to name a few, all releasing in the next few months.

If these two new sequels come to fruition, fans of the movie won't need to travel to Shanghai to get their Zootopia fix! Now that Lister has spilled the beans about the planned sequels, it shouldn't be too long before Disney makes a statement on the future of the franchise.
