If you're a fan of the hit Canadian comedy series Workin' Moms and are eagerly awaiting new episodes, you won't have to wait too much longer. Those who discovered the witty and sharp comedy about a group of mothers who navigate the struggles of raising kids while trying to work and balance the needs of their family have been waiting for the show's fifth season to arrive. Despite a global health pandemic the cast just announced that they're back and season five is currently in production!

In a post on the show's Instagram page, show creator Catherine Reitman, who also plays Kate Foster in the comedy is pictured posing alongside cast member Dani Kind, who plays Anne Carlson. Both women are seen wearing their face masks which may hint that the show will be tackling the pandemic or they're just being safe while on set.

Like Schitt's Creek, Workin' Moms is another Canadian comedy that really discovered a much larger audience once Netflix picked it up. The first four seasons are available on the streaming service, with season four premiering on the CBC in Canada back in February and on Netflix at the beginning of May. Fans learned in April that the show had been picked up for a fifth season, but the pandemic has been causing many delays with regards to new production.

According to TV, eh? it might be some time before we can see our favorite working moms back on the small screen despite production having just started. "Production will continue in and around Toronto through late November for a winter 2021 premiere on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service," the site reported. They also note that this upcoming season will see the show's cast continue to struggle to balance motherhood, work, and home life as they constantly face new challenges. "The women embark on new chapters of their lives while striving to maintain their friendships, careers, and parenting goals."

Reitman called her show a 'great escape' during an interview with Tom Power for Q on CBC and stated that she's unsure if she will incorporate the pandemic into future seasons. especially since entertainment is much needed during such serious and heavy times. "It's a very delicate time," she said.  "There's so much pressure right now to learn how to play an instrument, or write the next novel! Not only am I not capable of all those things, but it's a really stressful climate right now," she added. "I don't find it creatively stimulating. I'm working full time with kids at home and trying to teach them to read a clock," she said. "As I'm looking into the future of the show, I'm definitely considering: Does this affect it?"

Although the show has been renewed on the CBC for the fifth season, Netflix has yet to announce if it will air on their streaming service, or when. Fingers crossed fans will be able to see Workin' Moms on the CBC and Netflix next year.
