A parent's worst nightmare is anything bad happening to their child. Parents do everything in their power to ensure their children are safe, but sometimes acts of violence are so random they are completely out of everyone's control. One family was left shocked, confused and devastated when a strange woman randomly stabbed their toddler son in the face as they were simply walking down the street.
The parents were out walking with their two sons on a street in Tbilisi Georgia when an unknown woman approached them. The family is simply walking past the woman when she pauses and turns around and walks towards them. She then calmly reached into her handbag, pulled out a knife and cut the boy, who was holding his mother's hand, in the face.
As the mother and father are suddenly realizing what she has done, she is seen attempting to go near the couple's other son. The father quickly pulls him to safety and both parents attempt to confront the woman while still trying to keep their children out of harm's way.
The father even follows the woman as she walks into the street, but she brandishes her knife at him and he quickly backs away. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery for lacerations to his face and nose that were described as 'moderately severe' . "The patient had fairly deep wounds in the area of the nose and right cheek," Natia Vasadze, surgeon of Tbilisi Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic, told InterPressNews. "We provided initial surgical care to the patient and then, stitched the wound. Currently, the health condition has improved and he will be discharged."
The Sun reports that while the woman initially fled the scene, CCTV footage from a nearby pharmacy helped police identify the suspect. The next morning the 51-year-old was found and charged. She faces up to 10 years behind bars if convicted. The boys' parents told police they had never seen the attacker before, and judging by the video footage of the attack the parents seem completely surprised and confused after the attack occurred.
