Perhaps it's because in many places with a birthday cutoff September babies are the oldest in their classes. In some cases, they're nearly a year older than the youngest kids in the class. There is also research that shows fall babies are 20 percent more likely to get into elite schools. So you better start saving your money, or make note of the next point.

They're more athletic

Have a September baby? Hopefully you are okay with the idea of being a sports parent. September babies tend to be more athletic, according to research. "With children born in the Northern Hemisphere, those born in autumn tend to have slightly bigger bone and muscle mass," explains Dr. Gavin Sandercock, from the Centre for Sports and Exercise Science at Essex University. "They start off with more muscle, become active earlier [and] then get involved in athletics sooner. It becomes a positive cycle."

They're less likely to get into trouble

According to the same NBER study that shows they do well in school, September babies are less likely to get in trouble with the law at a young age. "Being an older age at school entry increases children's college attainment and reduces the likelihood of being incarcerated for juvenile crime," according to the authors of the study "School Starting Age and Cognitive Development."

They're generally good people

If you have a September baby, astrologically they are either a Virgo (August 23rd - September 22nd) or a Libra (September 23rd - October 22nd.) Virgos tend to be detail-oriented, practical, loyal and tender. They also have a "methodical approach" to life. Libras are sociable, peaceful, and harmonious, since their astrological symbol is a scale. They are also excellent problem solvers.

They could live a long time

According to researchers from the University of Chicago, people born between September and November are more likely to live to see 100. Researchers interviewed 1,500 centenarians (people 100 years old or older) and found that a large amount of them were fall babies. It could be because of early exposure to seasonal infections like colds. This helps to build immunity.
