Whitney Houston is inducted into the Hall of Fame and her mama is proud!

It is always an honor to parents everywhere when their child does something that is special and meaningful. When their child is able to leave an imprint on the world and a legacy that will live on past them and travel through generations. It means even more when a parent is still around to join in the celebration with their child. However, it is heartbreaking when a mom has to celebrate their child’s achievements when their child is no longer around to celebrate.

Whitney Houston continues to be an icon long after her death. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame listed their new inductees on their official Instagram page and Whitney Houston was celebrated as being one of those stars.

The post stated that Whitney was the first African-American artist to receive 3 RIAA certified Diamond albums, and she would be honored at the upcoming 2020 Induction Ceremony that was held on November 7th. At the ceremony, Whitney’s mother, Cissy Houston, spoke in honor of her daughter and it was moving, according to Today.

Cissy said that she is incredibly proud of her daughter overall and because she was being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She said that she remembers that Whitney wanted to be something big, and boy was she. Cissy wasn’t the only one to speak out on Whitney’s behalf, her sister-in-law and manager, Pat, also spoke out.

She said that this was something that Whitney would have always wanted. She recalled a time back in 2009 when she and Whitney had a conversation about the only thing missing was getting into the Hall of Fame. Cissy, then, confirmed that her daughter had done it, even though she is not with us anymore.

Whitney lost her life in 2012 from accidental drowning; though, she had suffered with substance abuse as well. Cissy reached a point where she got too emotional to speak, and she said that she had to stop talking because if she didn’t stop, she was going to cry.

No mother is supposed to outlive their child, and this is true no matter if you or your child was a celebrity or not. Whitney received one of the highest honors there is in the music world, and it is just one more way to make sure the world remembers her name and the imprint she left in the world of music.
