A new study has found that certain vitamins and minerals may help improve symptoms of ADHD in children and youth. There are children out there who really struggle with day-to-day life. Children who are neurodivergent and are trying to navigate a world that is difficult for them. While they have shown that they are incredibly resilient and that they can persevere, it would be an ideal world if we could find something that can help ease some of the symptoms. This includes ADHD, which impacts many children and can make it hard for them to focus and navigate the world.

According to Medical Xpress, a new study has found that vitamins and minerals can help to improve the symptoms of ADHD in children. This study was done by The Ohio State University, and it can be read in full here.

The study found that children who had ADHD and emotional dysregulation and were given a “micronutrient-dense” formula made of vitamins and minerals were three times more likely to have better concentration and be in better moods.

This study shows that here is another option possible for parents and children out there. The study found that more than half (54%) had an improvement in their symptoms, and this was compared with just 18% in the placebo group.

This is not the first study to find this, and in fact it was replicating a previous study that was done in New Zealand. The fact that it came to the exact same conclusion shows that this method of treatment has some promise of being incredibly beneficial.

The study involved 135 children who had ADHD and emotional dysregulation, and they were split into two groups. One was given a capsule with the micronutrient formula, and one was given a placebo. It was a blind study, so the children and their parents had no idea which capsule they had actually been given.

The improvement was seen after just 8 weeks, and they were also found to have physical growth changes as well. This form of treatment may be preferred for parents, as it is a more “natural” treatment plan than medications. The hope would be that children with ADHD could rely on this micronutrient formula and not pharmaceuticals.

The other good news was that the children who were taking the micronutrient did not show any adverse reactions or poor health due to it.
