Ukrainian Adoptee Who May Or May Not Be An Adult Opens Up About Parents' Allegations

If you have been following the story about the Ukrainian adoptee who may or may not have been an adult whenever her parents adopted her (thinking she was a child), you are going to want to listen up because big things are happening. Not only is this story one of the most bizarre cases that we have seen as of recently, but it has hit national news and the daughter with be featured on the Dr. Phil on Thursday, November 7.

Yes, this is not fake news! Get your popcorn ready.

Natalia Grace Barnett has reportedly sat down with Dr. Phil McGraw to break her silence and even filmed a segment for our viewing pleasure.

If this is the first you are hearing about this wild case, Michael Barnett, 43, and his wife, Kristine, 45, have shared with the world that they thought they were adopting an 8-year-old child, but now allege Natalia is a “sociopath” and a “con artist” who is actually an adult woman who actually tried to kill them and their two boys.

“Natalia would do things like place clear thumb tacks on the stairs face up so that when we would walk up the stairs, we would be stepping on thumb tacks to pain and injure ourselves,” Barnett said.

How was she mistaken for an eight year old? Natalia has a form of dwarfism called spondyloepiphyseal, and two years after the adoption took pace, the Barnetts had her age legally changed to 22. However, the family recently revealed on Good Morning America that they now think Natalia may be as old as 33.

Natalia was adopted by the family from the Ukraine in 2010 through an emergency adoption by this Indiana couple. Due to the turmoil that the family faced because of her, they allegedly abandoned her more than five years ago — leaving her alone in an apartment before fleeing north to Canada, with only enough money to pay rent.

She is now opening up and vocalizing her side of the story for the very first time and has denied being a con artist during her Dr. Phil interview, according to PEOPLE.

At this point, Natalia's former adoptive parents have been charged with neglecting a dependent and she is anxious to get her side of the story out to the world.
