Proving that there is nothing at all that can match the love and support of a mother, Tyra Banks has revealed that she needed a little bit of encouragement before accepting her role on Dancing With The Stars.

It appears that Tyra Banks wasn't really confident that this was the show for her. It's a bit out of her comfort zone and with absolutely no prior experience, Tyra Banks knew she would have a lot to learn and fast.

The wildly successful model is no stranger to the wonderful world of contest-based shows on television. She seems to be the most confident person when she's in front of the cameras. She has dominated the stage as a supermodel, and has even hosted her very own talk show. Never faltering, Tyra Banks seemed to transition well from her talk show to her judge's position on the panel of America's Got Talent.

She excelled in that role, so it seemed to be a natural transition to shift to hosting Dancing With The Stars, yet it wasn't. When she was initially offered this position, she essentially ignored it. She didn't think she was the right person for the job. She went on to ask the opinion of some of her friends, but maintained her lukewarm stance on this topic.

Finally, Tyra Banks turned to her mother for some much needed advice, and the rest, as they say, is history. Mama truly does know best. Tyra's mom encouraged her daughter to take the plunge,  reminding her that DWTS was a really fun show and she'd excel at it.

Tyra Banks is grateful that her mother nudged her in the right direction. The show is fast-paced, and there is always something exciting happening behind the scenes. During an interview, Tyra described the set by saying, "It’s bananas. I’ll be changing clothes and there’s dancing and people flipping and going home … I feel like I made the right decision."

It's clear to see that even when you're a fully grown, highly successful woman who is dominating her career, it doesn't hurt to ask mom for insight and advice - you may end up being as pleasantly surprised as Tyra Banks was when she asked.
