Donald Trump, who is known, among other things, for dishing it out on social media, is being trolled on Twitter after awkwardly placing a trick or treater’s candy on the child’s head. The internet is having a field day with Trump’s gaffe, which took place when the President and First Lady Melania Trump were greeting trick or treaters, who belonged to military families and local elementary schools, at the White House.

In a video posted by Sky News, Trump is approached by a child dressed as a Minion from Despicable Me, carrying an orange bag for their candy. Yet rather than placing the treats in the kid’s bag, the President decides that it seems appropriate to put it on the child’s head. Melania, who seemed to think it was best to follow her husband’s lead, ended up placing her candy on the kid’s head as well. The incident becomes all the more awkward after the candy falls off the child’s head and ends up on the ground.

Luckily, there was an adult who saw what had happened and decided to pick up the child’s candy and place it in their bag. Meanwhile, other children stood in front of the President with their trick or treating bags open, waiting for candy while he seemed to stare off into the distance before noticing them. It soon became apparent that handing out Halloween candy is not something Trump has much experience with.

Reactions to the President’s Halloween fail on Twitter ranged from, “All politics aside, Trump should be impeached for not knowing how to pass out Halloween candy,” tweeted by @JohnELTenney, to “Donald Trump gives out Halloween candy exactly the way I thought he would,” tweeted by @AlUCanEatShrimp.

Of course, others thought the internet was ganging up on Trump for simply being Trump, while some made the inevitable comparisons to how Obama interacted with kids in a more charming and relaxed manner. Regardless of your political affiliation, people have been making fun of US presidents from time immemorial. You could even say it’s an unofficial American pastime.

FDR was famously trolled for serving hotdogs to the King and Queen of England when they visited the US, Clinton was blasted for getting a $200 haircut, Bush Jr. was laughed at for choking on a pretzel and even Obama was dragged for comparing his bowling skills to the Special Olympics. As for which gaffe Trump will be most remembered for, it remains to be seen.
