Fans of Disney's latest hit sequel, Toy Story 4 have fallen in love with the new character Forky, voiced by Tony Hale. Forky is a plastic spork fashioned into a toy by Bonnie who uses some pipe cleaners, clay, and googly eyes, to create the unusual toy. Although Forky is convinced he's nothing more than trash, he has become the breakout star of the movie. It's no surprise due to Forky's growing popularity that Disney quickly released its own Forky plush toy, but now the company is issuing a voluntary recall because it seems that Forky's googly eyes are posing a choking risk to children.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of the 11-inch plush Forky toys stating that there is a risk that Forky's googly eyes can detach from the toy, posing a choking risk to children.

Although no injuries have been reported as a result of using the toy, Disney posted the voluntary recall on their website writing, "We have decided to voluntarily recall the 11” Forky plush due to a manufacturing defect that could potentially pose a choking hazard to children under 3."

The CPSC reports that approximately 80,000 units of the toy were sold in the US, with an additional 650 sold in Canada. The recall states the product has poseable arms, a base, rainbow screen art on top of the foot and plastic rolling “googly” eyes. Consumers can find the tracking code information on the sewn-in label attached to the base of the toy.

The items being recalled have the following tracking codes:

FAC-024868-18338

FAC-024868-19032

FAC-024868-19060

FAC-024868-19091

The plush Forky toy was sold at Disney Stores, Disney Theme Parks, shopdisney.com and through the Disney store on Amazon Marketplace between April and June and consumers are being told to return the toy for a refund if they have purchased it. "Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our Guests and we ask that Guests return the item for a full refund by visiting any North America Disney Store or Disney Theme Parks store, calling 866-537-7649, or emailing personal.shoppers@shopDisney.com," the website states.

If you have any questions about the recall Disney is asking consumers to visit CPSC's website or call Guest Relations at 866-537-7649.
