20 Swing Fail

"One minute she was on the swing and the next minute she flew off! I swung her far too high", honestly shared one Mother.

The park can be a dangerous place but you never think you would be the cause of that danger. Not intentionally of course, sometimes you just don't know how far you have pushed the swing until you have and then one thing leads to another. I think it is safe to say that this mishap has probably happened more than once to different parents, so just make sure your baby is okay and don't beat yourself up too much about it. Like I said, a park can be a dangerous place.

19 Pacifier Forever

via VSCO / bcom

"I was mom shamed so much for my daughter still having a pacifier at 3 years old and it was horrible but I also knew that the 'pacy' needed to go... like now!" bravely shared this mom about her daughter's pacifier addiction.

Nowadays many parents choose to give their child a pacifier, for many reasons, this no longer seems to be a topic of discussion. What is, however, is when to take the dummy away and how long is too long to have this comfort. Affecting teeth and speech the older a child grows, taking the soother away at the right age is crucial but in no way easy.

18 Saved My Baby

Having basic medical knowledge such as being trained in simple first aid can really benefit a parent and in some cases helping to save a child's life. A baby can not do much for itself and if for some unfortunate reason they stop breathing or start to choke they need their parent to come to the rescue, which is exactly what this Mom did.

"When my six-month-old started to choke I knew exactly what to do. I had attended a first aid class while I was pregnant and because of this, I saved my little girl's life, my proudest moment as a Mom." shared this strong mother.

17 Raised Vegan

For so long this way of life was unheard of, but now living a vegan lifestyle (avoiding all animal products and by-products where possible) has become rather mainstream and many parents are raising their children as mini-vegans also.

"I had so many negative comments from people who were simply uneducated on what it meant to live a plant-based life but I stuck to my guns and I raised my child vegan. Hand's down the best decision I ever made!" Vegan mother of one explained.

16 Accidentally Teaching To Swear

via How Does She?

"The day my daughter swore was the day I felt like I had failed as a parent, until I found out I was not the only one who has slipped a curse word out and heard their child repeat it," one down to earth Mommy shared with me.

Dropping a swear word in conversation here or there is fine when they are tiny but then that tiny baby grows and starts to copy what you say! A mishap that happens more commonly than you may think. What can you do? Sometimes they just slip out.

15 Understanding Of Emergency Services

Teaching your children how to properly utilize the emergency services in an emergency can literally save lives. It will be something they will carry with them for their whole life and will arm them with the skill to keep themselves safe and find help when you are not with them.

"My 3-year-old daughter phoned an ambulance for me when I collapsed due to an allergy attack. She saved my life and all because I taught her how to get help. I am so proud that I taught her that at a young age", explained another proud mother.

14 Fell In The Pool

"We were on a family holiday and what was a relaxing day next to the pool quickly turned into an emergency when my 1-year-old son fell into the water", truthfully explained mom of two.

Being near any type of water whether it be a pool, bath, or ocean, is a hazard. Most of the time as parents we can keep our children safe near water but sometimes accidents happen and in a blink of an eye a situation can turn dangerous. Something that has happened to more than one parent I am sure and we just need to be able to act quickly and effectively.

13 Genius Baby

All children have the potential to do something great, that is what is so amazing about children, they are a blank slate ready to absorb knowledge. Some children are considered 'gifted' if they show high intellect or talent from a young age and for the parents of these children this can be a very proud moment.

"My daughter always enjoyed music which I found adorable but I never thought it would evolve in her being gifted in several instruments at a very young age. I am one very proud mom."

12 Too Much TV

"I never realized the dangers of too much TV until it was too late and it had affected my son's behavior. He used to be in front of a screen almost all day and now I am trying to limit it he throws major tantrums, I wish had limited it from the start," bravely shared a stressed mother.

How much television a child should watch is again another hot topic in the parenting community. Some give their child no television, some limit it and other have no restrictions at all. Whatever you choose there is no denying that screen time does affect our children.

11 Makeup Everywhere

via Kristen Angelo

"I love my son's creativity and have absolutely no problem with him playing with makeup but when my bronzer is all over the floor and my lipstick has bite marks... yes that's a problem," shared boy mom about her son's makeup raid.

Leaving your make up bag unattended and visible to a child is most definitely a mishap waiting to happen and that is exactly what happened to this Mom. Nothing wrong with a bit of creativity and playing with makeup can be fun but keeping it off the walls would be a good idea.

10 Breastfeeding Success

Picluck

Breastfeeding vs Bottle feeding, the debate of what is better and who is right is still going on today but really as Mother's we should really be working towards supporting each other and celebrating one another's successes. Managing to breastfeed for a whole year like this mother is an achievement, and everyone should congratulate her.

"I was so proud I managed to breastfeed for a whole year and I am still going strong now. I gave my baby what I know is best and I am so proud of that!" rightly boasted this young mom.

9 Eating Crayons

"It felt like every time I would turn my back she would go from happily coloring to eating a full crayon... those nappies were interesting to say the least! Not my proudest moment as a parent", once again shared an honest mother.

All children seem to go through the phase of putting things in their mouth and therefore it is no surprise that what we adults view as un-edible objects, seem to get digested pretty easily by a toddler. A common mishap in the world of raising children.

8 Nice Outfit Messy Play

via Belle Squeaks

"We have all been there, you go to baby group with your baby in a pretty outfit and... it's messy play! That outfit it then ruined forever", exclaimed Mother of two.

The white clothes, the pastel colors, the expensive garments they all seem to be ruined as soon as they take place upon your little one. Often it is due to food spillages or baby waste but sometimes its due to messy play whether that be at home or at a group. Worth it to see your baby have fun, even if you do have to replace that outfit.

7 Sleeping Through The Night

More of a success for the baby rather than the parent some may say, but either way everyone wins! Of course, I am talking about the first time the baby sleeps through the night.

"The first time my baby slept for over 7 hours through the evening was a massive milestone for me. The extra sleep was amazing and after struggling with a baby that woke up every hour for so long it definitely felt like a success for me!" shared an exhausted mom of 3.

6 Best Birth Experience

a baby's hand

There are all different types of birth experiences and all are beautiful but there really is something special when the birth you planned while carrying your child, is actually the one you get! This is very rare to happen but for a few lucky mothers, it does.

"After the traumatic birth of my first child, I was determined to take control of how my second labor would be, being more strict on my birth plan and thankfully I got the calm, home birth that I dreamt of. The best birth experience ever!", one happy mom shared with me.

5 Skin Clipping

"I was so scared to cut my baby's nails for the first time and for good reason; I ended up cutting her skin by accident! I felt so guilty. From that moment on her Dad cut her nails," I was told by one mother.

Trimming a baby's nails for the first time is a scary moment for many parents and unfortunately often the skin does get a little clip. This is due to the baby either moving or that their nails are so small. To avoid this mishap some mothers resort to biting them off or using a buffer instead.

4 Cool Hairstyles

Doing your child's hair can be a difficult task; most children don't like to sit still for long periods of time. If you can get your little boy or girl to sit for long enough however some parents manage to pull off some majestic hairstyles.

"I never used to be good at styling hair, I had no idea how to do braids or pleats but once I had my little girl I was determined to teach myself. Now I do my daughters hair in many different styles and she is constantly getting compliments," shared this hair magic mom.

3 Pushy Kid

"Out of nowhere, my daughter started pushing over other children. I know a lot of toddlers go through this phase and they do not yet understand that its bad but I still felt embarrassed. Hopefully she gets over this phase soon," willingly shared this mom.

Fighting with siblings, pushing other kids, or acting out with personal boundaries to other children is something that small kids often do because they are still learning. As a parent, you can't always stop them from going through this phase but you can continue to teach and discipline them when necessary.

2 Teaching Compassion

Compassion can be hard to teach but when you get it right, it is an oh so sweet moment to be very proud of. Kindness and empathy are two things many parents really hope they can pass to their children, teaching them to be compassionate to others and one Mother I spoke to felt this was her biggest success.

"My baby boy grew into the most compassionate toddler, he always tries to comfort his sibling when they are upset. Proud as punch of my son!" shared one proud mother.

1 Standing Up For What Is Right

It is important in life to stand up for what is right and to have good values. This, for many parents, is one of the key things they want to teach their children. Whether it be looking after our planet, treating everyone equally or helping others, these are all aspects of building a kind human being.

"We were walking home one day and my little boy say a lot of rubbish on the ground and took it upon himself to pick up every bit and dispose of it properly. It was at this moment I knew I was doing something right", shared yet another proud mom.
