COVID-19 has us all inside –all of the time– quarantining with our children and husband. Many parents are having a hard time handling their bored and confused children, but there is a secret struggle going on that no one is talking much about. That is that we are also stuck with our spouses. Even though we love them, no one should be together 24/7, we all need a break now and then. Couples are bickering more and more, and celebrities are not immune either.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his wife, Lauren Hashian, have been experiencing this. Little fights and arguments due to this pandemic. On April 18th, he did a Q&A with his fans, and he spoke about how not to fight about dumb things while you are under lockdown.

It all started when a fan wrote to Johnson asking how him and his wife were coping during this lockdown, and he admitted that his wife’s “snippiness” was on a whole other level with him. He had this to say,

“We get snippy with each other now, we argue. The first two weeks, I was really wobbly, I was thinking ten steps ahead, wondering what work is going to be like, school, what does the new normal look like. There’s a lot of sh*t we’re all thinking about, it’s a lot of pressure.”

He stated that he found himself always apologizing to his wife, stating that he was having a bad day or a bad week. However, he also said that the couple now has coping strategies that help prevent this and has actually improved their marriage. It really is simple. He used a recent example, the pair were eating breakfast one day, when Johnson made a snippy comment. This comment would have normally escalated into a full-blown fight, but it didn’t. That is because his wife calmly stood up and said, “You know what, I’m gonna walk away.”

She took her breakfast somewhere else, and when Johnson was in a calmer state, he went to join his wife. He started to shave, and a joke was made and the whole tension was gone. The pair couldn’t even remember what they were fighting about. Sometimes, it is that simple, and we are living in a time that is putting unreal pressure on everyone, and we tend to take it out on those whom we are stuck with. It is OK to walk away, it is encouraged.
