Disney And Dolby Bring The Pride Lands To New York City

In partnership with Disney's live-action remake of The Lion King, Dolby Soho has created a stunning immersive experience and exhibit for The Lion King Fans. Right in the heart of Soho, one of New York City's most popular neighborhoods there's an opportunity to journey into the wild African savanna of Disney’s The Lion King at Dolby SoHo and get up close and personal with the future king in this immersive, limited-time exhibition. While the exhibit is themed for The Lion King, the type of technology, sound and sight experiences are geared more towards teenagers and adults as well as families who are interested in the lasted in technology and sound systems.

Moms.com recently had the opportunity to have a private tour of this exhibit. Visiting this exhibit will serve as a great counterpart to Jon Favreau's use of advanced CGI technology in his remake of The Lion King. 

When you visit this exhibit in New York City, you will have a truly immersive experience. There is are plenty of interactive exhibits that will allow you to discover more about the film as well as how the power of technology can facilitate in taking home theater and theater going experiences to the next level using the ultra-vivid picture of Dolby Vision and immersive sound of Dolby Atmos. Utilizing pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way, Disney’s The Lion King roars in this unique exhibit.

This exhibit is a technology lover's paradise. There are comfortable lounge areas specifically designed to create an atmosphere of comfort and relaxation. When you enter the kingdom of Disney's The Lion King exhibit at Dolby SoHo, you walk through a long hall lined with the faces of the characters within the film and immediately enter a large space that no only engages your sense of sight and sound, but rather the experiences envelopes your entire body. There are nine different exhibits within the experience all featuring the sound of Dolby Atmos and the ultra-vivid picture of Dolby Vision.

When in The Infinity Room, the room surrounds you with the ultra-vivid picture of Dolby Vision and an immersive soundscape of Dolby Atmos. In this space, we were able to try out the lastest headphones and sound systems and it truly made for an engaging, immersive experience. the 3D visuals coupled with the advanced sound systems literally places you at the center of the viewing and listening experience.

When in The Experience Room, the characters of the film are displayed across all four walls, even the floor and are enhanced by state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos immersive sound. This room has projection mapped walls and floor and an immersive 31-channel Dolby Atmos sound system.

In The Dimension Pod, listeners are able to experience an insider’s perspective from the director of the film, Jon Favreau talking about the process of working with Dolby in the cinematic sound of Dolby Dimension headphones and ultra-vivid picture of Dolby Vision.

In the 'Virtual Forest' portion of the exhibit there is an adorable opportunity to re-create the iconic scene of Rafiki holding up Simba on Pride Rock, and it's the most kid-friendly portion of the exhibit. This virtual forest is made up of 18 freestanding monitors showcasing the ultra-vivid picture of Dolby Vision and immersive Dolby Atmos sound giving people an up close and personal look at the film.

Additionally, there is a bright neon painted mural that showcases that likeness of Simba and Rafiki, and it's definitely a great photo opportunity. Painted by artist Louis Jensen, the bold, bright designs in the background are beautiful.

At the Dolby Soho screening room, you can get a taste of Dolby Cinema, a premium movie destination located at select theaters around the world. In this space, viewers get to sit back, relax, and enjoy the a trailer from the film.
