Being a father in Hollywood is no easy task. In both situations, however, there are some celebrity dads that are so overprotective that most of their fans don’t even know they have kids! In the case of one eleven-time Grammy award-winning celebrity dad, in particular, no one would actually guess he has four kids with triplets among them!

Despite being in the spotlight, not all celebrity dads want their kids to grow up with paparazzi following their every move or tabloids reporting on their latest potty-training achievement. Among these overprotective dads, we also can’t forget about the ones who are already plotting for the teenage years by strategizing the ways in which they’re going to ward off any potential suitors. It has yet to happen but it’s still a sentiment that many parents and especially dads share once their daughters start to go through the usual tween and teen obsessions. In fact, neither Kanye nor Kim spare any expense when it comes to keeping their children safe as they spend upwards of $100,000 per day on 24-hour security protection that includes military personnel. They actually have up to 30 security guards patrolling the grounds all day long!

While promoting the movie White House Down in 2013, he opened up about fatherhood by telling US Weekly,

"I'm pretty sure that something about the [head of state] makes the stakes a little higher, but to me as a new father, nothing is more important or [worrisome] than protecting a daughter."

Since then, he has been on a mission with Mila Kunis to keep the kids away from the media’s prying eyes. While it hasn’t been easy and there are certainly a number of pictures of the couple’s children online, he has stood by one simple thought. As he told Huffington Post this:

"My wife and I have chosen a [job] where we're in the public light," he adds. "But my kids have not, so I think they should have the right to choose that."

12 Ryan Reynolds

That’s right! While Ryan Reynolds is all jokes on his own social media channels and in interviews, he’s nevertheless super protective when it comes to his two daughters, James and Inez Reynolds.

In an interview with David Letterman, Ryan famously mentioned that while he used to say he would do anything for his wife Blake Lively, his priorities have massively shifted since having kids.

“The second I looked into that baby’s eyes, I knew in that exact moment that if [anything ever happened], I would use my wife as a human shield to protect that baby.”

Something tells us she approves.

As the lead singer of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, is certainly no stranger of the kind of environment that musicians tend to attract, especially via the groupies and backstage activities. Although he’s now a dad of three, there’s no doubt about the fact that the 50-year-old has seen a lot in his time and he knows the kind of reputation usually precedes musicians. As such, his words aren’t all that surprising. According to Esquire, he said,

"If my daughter ever comes home with a musician, I'll pull him aside and say, 'I'll get you a record deal if you stop [hanging] around with my daughter.'"

10 James Corden

James Corden is everywhere: all over TV with his late-night show and all over our social media feeds with his hilarious Carpool Karaoke clips and epic rap battles but there’s one thing noticeably missing from his famous persona… his kids! Not only are pictures of his kids are scarce but he rarely talks about them too. But don’t think he never lets his kids outside! In this picture, a fan actually caught Corden on a Disneyland trip with his kids.

One thing is for sure though: Corden wasn’t exactly all that pleased with having his picture taken at the most magical place on earth.

9 Matt Damon

Just like James Corden and many other celeb dads, Matt Damon is another celebrity who tries extra hard to keep his children out of the spotlight for their protection and privacy.

This initiative also ties into the fact that he’s on a mission to make sure his kids don’t grow up spoiled after witnessing how some communities live around the world.

8 John Krasinski

“Pics of kids should only come direct from parents. So I'm thrilled to introduce you guys to Hazel!!!"

"Even when [we] drop our 4-year-old daughter off at school, you don’t know what she’s gonna do that day. You don’t know if other kids are gonna be nice to her or if she [will get] in trouble for something. You just want to protect them at all costs."

7 Christian Bale

“I’ve absolutely fallen into that cliché of a dad who could just happily talk about my daughter endlessly. But it’s not what I’m about in terms of being an actor. I don’t want people to know about that.”

6 Pharrell

Via: W Magazine

Aside from the fact that no one can understand how Pharrell still looks the exact same way he did twenty years ago, there’s another tidbit of eleven-time Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, and producer: the fact that he has kids. As it turns out, his son Rocket Ayer Williams is now actually about ten-years-old who became a big brother at the beginning of 2017 when –wait for it— Pharrell and his wife of 10-years Helen Lasichanh had triplets. Via: People

'If Simone came to me and was like, "Listen Dad, I'm dating someone." I'd be like "OK cool, well bring him in."

'Then he comes in, "Hello, what's your name?" "Hi my name is..." [interrupts the conversation] Right there. What that is, is [I would grab him and he would go down.] Simone [would not be] in the room right now because she [would be] escorted out.

'You're fighting for your life. Stay down there. And that's how I would react.'

4 Dave Chappelle

Via: Nails Images

Although Dave Chappelle’s name has been on the news lately a lot, fans will still be hard-pressed to find much information regarding either one of his three children. In fact, the stand-up comedian is renowned for having moved his family south of Yellow Spring, a village in Greene County, Ohio, which boasts a population of 3,487! According to Bossip, the reason for the move was primarily motivated by Chappelle’s yearning for privacy for himself and his family. As a result, pictures of his kids are very scarce. It will be very interesting to see if any of kids attempt to follow in his footsteps.

3 Justin Timberlake

Via: Pinterest

Did you think Justin Timberlake is cool? Turns out he’s a little too cool for his fans as he keeps his kids away from the fans’ insatiable curiosity. People explained that after Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel’s son Silas Randall was born in 2015, “followers were only able to get a few glimpses of the newborn. The two have never shied away from talking about their love for one another but when it comes to their son, it’s rare that you’ll see the parents share a good look at his face.”

In effect, although the family does share pictures of the three of them together, they are very careful to never select one with a clear picture of his face.

2 Jay-Z

Via: Pinterest

Although the paparazzi have captured many pictures of Jay-Z’s and Beyoncé’s three kids, Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir Carter, the fact remains that the proud daddy of three would prefer to preserve their privacies.

“Jay and I have always been very discreet when it comes to our relationship. Even after we got married nothing changed about that. I think that saved us a lot of trouble,” Beyoncé told Germany’s FHM magazine, according to People.

In general, the couple has kept details of their private lives under wraps and it’s no surprise that they take every measure possible to keep the kids out of the limelight – for the most part.

1 Dax Shepherd

Via: People

As with many other celeb fathers on this list, Dax Shepherd is another one who prefers to keep his children with Kristen Bell away from prying eyes. Not only are pictures of their kids extremely scarce on the web, but they also make every effort possible to maintain their family’s privacy. As UPI.com reported, “The pair have been particularly vocal about a 'no kids policy' and recently asked their fans to boycott every publication that publishes paparazzi photos of celebrity children taken without consent.”

While they haven’t been successful yet, perhaps it won’t be much longer until laws are changed everywhere -- much to the joy of all the celeb dads on this list!
