Target's Car Seat Trade-In Is Back By Popular Demand

It's the most wonderful time of the year... if you're in the market for a new car seat that is! Those of you with kids in car seats have probably heard about Target's car seat trade-in. In the past, you could bring your old car seats to your local participating Target store for recycling and in return you could get a coupon for 20% off a new car seat or car seat base, booster seat, or travel system. It was a fantastic program because not only could you dispose of your old car seat, but you could then purchase a newer car seat at a discount.

While Target is once again offering it's car seat trade-in program, this time they've made it even better! The event will run from September 9 through to the 22nd and customers will be able to bring their expired, old or simply unwanted or unneeded car seats in to participating stores for recycling. While you will still get a 20 percent off coupon valid for the purchase of a new car seat, car seat base, travel system or stroller, you'll now be able to use that coupon on other much needed items as well!

As if Target wasn't awesome enough, baby home gear including playards, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers are are also eligible items to receive the 20% discount. Target's car seat trade-in event is part of Baby Safety Month, and the retailer will accept and recycle all types of car seats from infant seats to convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats as well as car seats that are expired or damaged, their press release has announced.

While you get a 20% off discount coupon to use in store, Target is taking your old car seats and putting them to good use. The retail giant actually teams up with Waste Management to help recycle all of the car seats and car seat items that they collect during the trade-in event in to a variety of products. Target began their trade-in event in April of 2016 and since then they've recycled more than 306,000 car seats, making a huge impact.

If you have a car seat or any of the items listed above to trade in, you simply bring the item to a participating Target store and bring the car seat to the drop off bin typically located near guest services where you'll be given your 20% discount coupon. You'll get one coupon for every car seat you trade in to be recycled, but it's only valid until October 6th both in store and online. Happy shopping!
