With summer vacation finally here it means that parents everywhere are searching for fun and inexpensive ways to keep the kids busy and entertained during the day. Sure it's nice to organize some day trips to the beach or local pool, but there are also days when parents need to stay home and get things done around the house.
If you've been searching for a summer activity that will keep your kids busy for hours, not to mention make them the hit of all their friends, this is just what you've been looking for!
The blog The Keeper of The Cheerios has posted a super fun and adorable activity your kids can do by themselves that will no doubt keep them entertained for hours. And when their friends come by for a visit they'll be equally enthralled and want to participate as well. In fact, this is such a fun activity even the parents will want to take a turn too.
The activity is called the Dancing Spider Races, but no actual spiders are involved. You take a roll of aluminum foil and roll out a piece about a foot or two long. Fold up the edges so you create a lip around the entire rectangle.
Take a dry erase marker (the blog notes that new markers work best) and proceed to draw two separate spiders (or as many as you'd like) on the aluminum foil. See, no real spiders harmed in this activity at all!
You then pour water on the aluminum foil and watch as the spiders lift off the base of the foil! Kids can then use straws to blow the spiders around on the foil. You can make the spiders 'dance' or even have makeshift races with them.
Not only is this a super fun activity that kids of all ages will enjoy, but it's also very inexpensive. It can seem overwhelming for parents in the summer to try and keep their kids entertained during the summer months while on a budget, which is why it's so nice to come across activities like this, and even this yarn craft, that is affordable and entertaining!
Next time you're at the store stock up on aluminum foil and dry erase markers and let your kids explore their crafty side. They can draw spiders or aliens or anything they like and experiment with different ways to make their creation dance.
