It’s hard to believe that it’s been this long since Angelina Jolie and ex-husband Brad Pitt welcomed their first biological child into the world, but Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt turned 14 years old on May 27! Doesn’t it just feel like yesterday that Brangelina debuted their sweet newborn on the cover of People Magazine?

What is it like to be the kid of two of the world’s biggest celebrities? The exes try to keep their children out of the public eye. So there is little known about Shiloh or her siblings, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and twins Vivienne and Knox. But that hasn’t stopped us from wanting to know all that we can about them! In honor of Shiloh’s recent birthday, here is a roundup of all of the nuggets of information we could gather about her.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Was Born In Africa

As Jolie’s due date approached, she and Pitt wanted to escape the media frenzy in Los Angeles surrounding their relationship. So the family headed to a more serene setting: the desert of Namibia. Shiloh was born in a hospital clinic in Swakopmund. Why Southern Africa? Her mom had spent much time there as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations and fell in love with the country while filming Beyond Borders.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt: Youngest Person To Have A Wax Figure

Shiloh broke a record as the first baby to have a wax statue of themselves on display at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Shiloh was just eight-weeks-old when an exhibit at the New York City location was revealed of the sweet sleeping baby with her mom and dad watching over her.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Wanted To Be A Boy

Before she was even four years old, Shiloh was exploring her gender. When her dad was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2008, Pitt revealed that Shiloh wanted to be called John, or Peter, like from Peter Pan! When Shi’s mom did an interview with Vanity Fair in 2010, she confirmed that her daughter wanted to be a boy. “She wants to be a boy,” Jolie told Vanity Fair in 2010. “So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boy clothes. She thinks she’s one of her brothers.” Even today, Shiloh prefers a chic tomboy look.

Shiloh & Her Sister Both Recently Had Surgery

There aren’t many details about the medical maladies that affected Shiloh and her big sister, Zahara. But in March, Jolie wrote in an op-ed story for the New York Times that the girls had both had operations. “I have spent the last two months in and out of surgeries with my eldest daughter, and days ago watched her younger sister go under the knife for a hip surgery,” Jolie wrote. “They understand that going through medical challenges and fighting to survive and heal is something to be proud of.”

Dad Is Super Proud Of Her

Of course, Pitt loves all of his kids. But it sounds like dad has a soft spot in his heart for Shiloh and the wonderful person she is growing up to be. “Brad is so proud of Shiloh and who she has become,” a source told EW. “He loves that she always stays true to herself and is so good to her brothers and sisters.”

She’s Worked On A Movie With Her Mom

In 2016, Shiloh and three of her siblings — Pax, Zahara and Knox — voiced characters in the animated movie Kung Fu Panda 3. Their famous mom voiced Tigress in all three films, and in the third one, three of her kids had small parts. Shiloh voiced the character Shuai Shuai, and mom said that her kids had a blast making animal noises. “They came in, and they had a lot of fun with it,” Jolie told People.

Shiloh Shared The Screen With Her Famous Dad, Too

When her dad worked on the movie The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button — about a man who ages backwards — baby Shiloh made a cameo in the film. Father and daughter share a really brief — but very sweet — moment when Shi appeared as Ben’s little girl, Caroline.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Doesn’t Go To Regular School

Along with her siblings, Shiloh has been homeschooled by private tutors. And in addition to the basics like language and math, Shiloh learned a foreign language. Their mom told BBC that she gave them the option to choose what they wanted to study. “I asked them what languages they wanted to learn and Shi is learning Khmai, which is a Cambodian language.” But Shiloh will soon know what it’s like to have more classmates. Their parents agreed that once the pandemic is over, the Jolie-Pitt kids — aside from Maddox, who is in college — will attend a more traditional school. So, Shiloh could be headed to a brick-and-mortar building as soon as schools open back up.

She Has A Famous Friend

Everyone loves Millie Bobby Brown from Netflix’s Stranger Things. But Shiloh actually calls the young actress her friend The girls, along with Shiloh’s sister Zahara, have been spotted around Hollywood doing typical teenager things like getting hamburgers and pizza. And on National Best Friend’s Day last year, Brown shared a sweet pic of her and her sister with the Jolie-Pitt girls on her Instagram stories. View video of them being typical teenagers at Starbucks here.

She’s A Philanthropist Like Her Mom

Shiloh inherited her mom’s do-good genes! Then Jolie visited Turkey on official Goodwill Ambassador business in 2015, Shiloh tagged along for the important meeting. The teenager even has an animal reserve named after her. Shiloh’s mom founded the Shiloh Wildlife Sanctuary in Namibia — where Shi was born — to care for elephants and rhinos who have been rescued from poachers or suffered abuse. When she joined her mom for the grand opening in 2017, Shi was quite surprised to discover the name. “Her face lit up when she saw the sanctuary for the first time,” a source told People. “The name was a surprise to her and she was beaming.”

Not many teenagers can brag about something as important as that. But then again, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is not your average teenager.
