Shay Mitchell Reveals Baby Gender With The Help Of The Power Rangers

Gender reveals have become a pretty big deal over the last few years, with people coming up with some pretty crazy ways to announce whether they're having a boy or a girl. We've seen gender reveal lasagna, gender reveal nails and many other fun ways couples have come up with to announce their big news. Former Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell, who recently announced that she and longtime boyfriend Matte Babel were expecting a child together, decided to have their own gender reveal using the Power Rangers!

While most couples plan their gender reveal, Mitchell states in a video posted to her YouTube channel that she actually left the decision on how the couple were going to find out about their baby's gender up to her assistant, who clearly decided that a pink and blue Power Ranger fighting to the death (not really!) was the way to go!

Before the gender reveal both Mitchell and Babel called friends and family members to ask if they thought they were having a boy or girl, with the overwhelming response being for a girl. Mitchell herself was convinced she was having a boy, stating in the video, "I truly think I am having a boy because, ugh, just the retribution of having a girl. My parents would just look at me and be like, 'It's karma bitch.'" Mitchell was in for her first surprise during the gender reveal when a pink and blue Power Ranger arrived and began to 'fight' confusing both Mitchell and Babel. Mitchell finally realized that whichever Power Ranger won would determine the gender of her baby. It was a bit confusing for both parents but they finally realized that the pink Power Ranger was victorious, meaning they were having a girl!

In addition to announcing they she will be having a daughter, Mitchell announced she'll be chronicling her pregnancy in a YouTube series titled "Almost Ready" that will be launching on July 17. It was back in January that the actress revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage in 2018, explaining in a different YouTube video why she chose to keep her pregnancy this time under wraps for so long. "When you’re in the public eye, there are some things you want to just keep a secret until you feel ready," she said. "This, for me, has been the hardest. It’s going to be really fun and awesome when I’m not trying to hide it anymore. I didn’t want to come out on social media so early on. I’m going to be so happy when this comes out. I can be pregnant, like not suck my stomach in."
