A ‘Sex And The City’ Follow-Up Is Coming To TV

For anyone who ever sat and watch Sex and the City with a cosmopolitan in one hand, we've got some big news to share: there will be a follow-up coming to TV! We know...time to break out those Louboutin's and gather the girls for a screening party because we can only imagine that it's going to be epic.

Here's the scoop: According to Hollywood Reporter,  Candace Bushnell, who wrote the original Sex and the City book that the hit show was based on, has a new book coming out called Is There Still Sex and the City? The book is about sex (of course!), dating, and friendships for women over fifty. It's slated to be released in August. Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have already purchased the rights to the book, meaning that a television show is coming!

However, as of right now, it doesn't seem like the new series (which will probably come after the book is released) will include the original cast or even have cameos from Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda. Whomp, whomp. At this point though, no casting information has been released, so there's still a wee bit of hope.

Bushnell shared on March 27th in a statement, "It didn't used to be this way. At one time, fifty-something meant the beginning of retirement—working less, spending more time on your hobbies, with your friends, who like you were sliding into a more leisurely lifestyle. In short, retirement-age folks weren't meant to do much of anything but get older and a bit heavier. They weren't expected to exercise, start new business ventures, move to a different state, have casual sex with strangers, and start all over again. But this is exactly what the lives of a lot of fifty- and sixty-something women look like today, and I'm thrilled to be reflecting the rich complexity of their reality on the page and now on the screen."

The president of Paramount TV, Nicole Clemens added how thrilled they are to continue the conversation that was so groundbreaking whenever the original Sex and the City was released.

So yes, this is not a drill... there will be more Sex and the City!
