There’s good news for fans of the hit Universal film, The Secret Life of Pets. Not only is a sequel coming out in theaters this summer, but Universal Studios Hollywood is also preparing to unveil a new ride based on the popular film, which features talking cats, dogs, birds, rabbits and everything else in between.

Universal Studios Hollywood theme park plans to open a new ride based on the popular animated film. The ride will be called, “The Secret Life of Pets: Off The Leash!” and will be located near the “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” attraction. So far there is no indication that Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, plans on opening up a similar ride for their guests.

The ride plans on taking guests through the streets of New York City, similar to what is seen in the film. It will also explore what pets do when their owners are not home.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring another exciting Illumination movie-based ride to our guests,” said Karen Irwin, president and chief operating officer of Universal Studios Hollywood said in a statement to the press this week, according to Variety.

"’The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!’ will capture the essence of the popular film and invite our guests to live vicariously through some of their favorite characters as they embark on a one-of-a-kind experience only available at Universal Studios Hollywood.”

Also, a new The Secret Life of Pets 2 trailer has dropped just in time for National Pet Day. The film chronicles the daily adventures of a Jack Russell Terrier that goes by the name of Max (voiced by actor Patton Oswalt) along with his friends after they’ve all been left alone for the day by their owners. The trailer also introduces a brand new friend named Rooster and another character by the name of Max.

Back in 2017, it was reported that controversial comedian Louis C.K. would not be reprising his role as Max. This came after accusations were made that he behaved inappropriately with several different women.The rest of the cast also includes the voices of Hollywood stars Jenny Slate, Tiffany Hadddish, Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper, Nick Kroll, Lake Bell, and Eric Stonestreet.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 will hit theaters nationwide beginning on June 7. It will be released in the United Kingdom a week earlier on May 27th.
