Now, this is definitely something to be thankful for! Fans of the hit 90's television show Saved By The Bell were thrilled when it was announced the show would be rebooted starring many of the original cast members including Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen, and Elizabeth Berkley Lauren. With the current coronavirus health pandemic, production on many new shows was halted leaving fans eagerly awaiting news of the show's premiere. Thankfully they won't have to wait much longer because the Peacock network announced today that the much-anticipated sequel will air beginning November 25, just in time for Thanksgiving.

The new reboot brings Gosselaar's Zack Morris back to the small screen as the Governor of California who gets into hot water after closing too many of his state's lower-income schools. Many of the students affected are then are sent to some of the more well-funded schools, like Bayside High. While Gosselaar, Thiessen, Berkley Lauren, and Lopez all reprise their roles as Morris, Kelly Kapowski, Jessie Spano, and A.C. Slater respectively from the original series, viewers will be introduced to the next generation of Bayside High students including Morris and Kapowski's son Mac, and Spano's son Jamie.

Slater returns as the school's gym teacher while John Michael Higgins will star as Bayside's new principal,  Mr. Toddman. For fans expecting this new reboot to have a similar vibe as the original Saturday morning staple, executive producer Tracey Wigfield told the Television Critic's Association in August that this new version is definitely going to be edgier.

"It’s not even a reboot, it’s a reimagining," Wigfield said, according to USA Today. "While the original show was a Saturday morning show for kids, this is a single-camera, kind of edgier comedy ... if you never saw the (original), it’s just a funny show about high school in 2020." She went on to add that "I have my tone and I have my kind of comedic voice that I like to write in. You will feel that here."

Of course, Berkley Lauren assured fans who are eager to revisit some of their favorite characters that the show will still appeal to them. "We still maintain that heart with all of the humor," she said. "It can bridge both the people who are nostalgic and then the new generation. ... People who are nostalgic will get fed all those gems that they are looking for." A teaser trailer featuring Jessie Spano's reaction to a student contemplating caffeine pills will definitely bring back those nostalgic feelings for fans of the original. "There’s a great episode that really pays homage, where Jessie still has some interesting feelings about that time," Berkley Lauren added. "There are a few ways that Tracey brilliantly embedded that into some of the scenes."

Fans are 'so excited' to watch the Saved By The Bell reboot, airing on Peacock on November 25. Will you be tuning in?
