A new report is predicting how the future will look when it comes to families and home life. With time comes advancements, and some may say that they are important. Progress and change are good things. If we don’t move with the times, we are going to be stuck in the past. However, the idea of motherhood, family, and home have always appeared to be constant ideals that are not subject to change. While the basic idea of love, compassion, and connection will always be the same, the mechanics of it may change.

Families have already seen these changes; homes are now equipped with smart devices so mom can lock the door when she is already out. Even fridges are set up for families, with computer screens on the front telling mom what she has in the fridge for dinner and what she needs to restock.

According to SWNS Digital, experts are predicting what the world will look like in 20 years, and a lot of it was changes to how family and home life will look. The most obvious change is going to be how a home looks; people will be designing their new homes from a computer, and with the aid of smart goggles, they will be able to see any view from out their window.

The report was done by Architect Piers Tayler, and he created the Homes of the Future: Connectivity & Communities report, which can be read in full here. He also worked with Flora Samuels and Ben Woods, experts in their own right.

The report said that everything families do in their homes will be connected by technology, and this even includes the family pet. There will be robotic pets that can keep our real furry friends company and can even feed them (Remember Rosie from The Jetsons? She always fed Astro). When it comes to our children, there will be a lot of changes, and some may be for their safety.

Floors will be sensitized and will be able to tell someone when a fall has happened. This could be useful for a mom who is in another part of the house and may not hear if her child has fallen, or even a grandparent.

Drones will also play a big role in childcare. The experts said that drones will be flying around inside the home, and it can be a mom’s eye on her children and what they are doing. These drones can also send messages to children and spouses in the house letting them know that dinner is ready, or better yet, remind them of a chore they are supposed to be doing. These changes may seem drastic, but as the world evolves, everyone has to evolve with it.
