Recall Issued For Ensure, PediaSure, And Other Abbott Brand Products

Household brand, Abbott, a multinational corporation with a range of health-related divisions has just released a recall of some of their most popular liquid nutrition products, due to a potential bacterial contamination. They are the makers of some of North America’s best known “dense nutrition” liquids, which are frequently used for young children and elderly or sick adults. It's better to be safe than sorry, so it's time to check your kitchen to make sure that you don't have any of these items.

This recall was issued due to customer complaints. Right now, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may end up leading to the recall of other products, so it's safe to say that you should probably set any Abbott products in your home aside until more information is available.

If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings. In addition, the CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled product from the marketplace.

The products being recalled are several of its formulated liquid nutrition products in 235mL metal cans, including PediaSure, Ensure, Levity and TwoCal products, due to a possible bacterial contamination. At this time, there has only been one reported case of illness associated with the consumption of these products. However, the overall nature of their illness has not been reported.

The full list of recalled products can be found in the official Abbott release here, but some of the most common ones are Pediasure and Ensure - both in a wide variety of sizes and flavors. Even though there has been only one confirmed illness, the list does include at least a dozen products to check your pantries for immediately.
