It turns out that Prince Charles wasn't the only member of the Royal Family who battled the coronavirus earlier this year. While Prince Charles' health issues were widely publicized when he contracted the virus back in April, his son, Prince William was reportedly also quite ill with the virus around the same time. News of Prince William's illness was kept a secret, until now.

According to The Sun, Prince William became ill around the same time as his father, but his illness was kept a secret so as to not alarm the public. The paper reports that the Prince was left "struggling to breathe" but continued to work while in quarantine despite his health issues.

“There were important things going on and I didn’t want to worry anyone," the Prince reportedly told one person at an engagement. One source noted that the 38-year-old "was hit pretty hard by the virus." They added that "At one stage he was struggling to breathe, so obviously everyone around him was pretty panicked. After seeing medics and testing positive - which was obviously quite a shock given how fit and healthy he is - William was determined it should be business as usual though." The source went on to add that Prince William, despite his health issues, still participated in 14 video and telephone engagements. "He was determined to fulfill his engagements."

After both Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Prince Charles were diagnosed with the coronavirus, the paper reports that Prince William was concerned that revealing his own diagnosis would cause panic so he chose to keep his illness a secret. "The Queen delivered her 'We Will Meet Again' address, and he just didn't want to worry people," the source said. "He felt there were more important things going on in the country."

Although Kensington Palace has not commented on Prince William's diagnosis, he was absent from performing any official calls or video appearances between April 9 and 16. His wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, and his three children reportedly tested negative for the virus and Prince William quarantined at his country home, where he was treated by medical professionals.

The news of Prince William's previous illness comes as the UK is preparing to enter their second lockdown. "But as a result of his own experiences, he realizes absolutely anyone can catch this awful disease - and knows how imperative it is that we all take this second lockdown seriously."
