Motherhood always brings out too many strangers with unsolicited opinions. But social media only makes it easier for people to comment on how you raise your kids. And celeb moms know that better than anyone. Singer and mom of two, Pink recently had a run in with the "mommy police" on Instagram over a picture of her and her son.
In the spring, Pink made the decision to not share pictures of her kids on social media anymore. After posting an adorable picture of her son Jameson sans diaper, the trolls and shamers came out full force. Having complete strangers constantly commenting on her parenting skills gets old. And you can't blame her for protecting her own heart.

Here’s a picture of my child running through water. It wasn’t even filtered. What a waste of water. And no helmet? I hope she had sunscreen. If she slips and falls she may be traumatized for life. And her mother wasn’t even there. I was..... gasp.... working!!!! In another country! 🤘🏽👎🖕#instagramisfun #fucktheparentingpolice #ifyoufeellikeunfollowingpleasegoddoitquickly #opinionsarelikeassholes #somanyassholes
"I cried so hard," she told Ellen during an appearance on the show about the incident.
No mom, celebrity or not, should stop sharing their lives on social media because of bullies. And yet, it happens all the time. Celebrity moms are just like any other moms, except they have more fame and money. But they're still people with feelings, and the people who claim to be fans somehow forget that.
In spite of her decision, Pink shared another picture of her an Jameson. She's on the European leg of her tour, and while in Germany, they spent some time at the zoo. But instead of focusing on the cute picture, or the fact that she was spending her time off with her family, the mommy police came patrolling.
"I’m surprised you go to zoos. Animals shouldn’t be in captivity. If it was a sanctuary - that’d be different," reads one comment. It's like clockwork.
Of course, Pink clapped back the best way she could.
"I believe in capturing a child’s interest and love for an animal before teaching them about things like captivity," she says. "But thank you, the world needed your wisdom today."
Here's the thing. It's easy to tell someone how to live their lives when you're hiding behind the protection of your screen. And just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you have to share it. Pink is a mom just trying to do her best and make her kids happy. At the end of the day, the only people's opinions who matter are her family's. But it's easy to get bogged down by people who are telling you that no matter what you do, you're doing it wrong.
Pink has done nothing but show she's a great mom. Celebrity or not, we all need to cut each other some slack.
