Jessica Simpson recently came under fire for letting her 7-year-old daughter, Maxwell, dye the ends of her hair purple. Apparently, moms across the world thought Simpson shouldn't allow her child to experiment with her appearance in this way. Mom shamers berated the singer for the choice, but Pink has popped up to show her support. Taking to her Instagram page, the 39-year-old pop sensation shared a picture of her daughter, 8-year-old Willow Sage, dying her hair blue.
According to PEOPLE, the caption reads, "I heard people were bummed on Jessica Simpson for letting her seven-year-old get her hair colored. So we thought we'd share what we did yesterday." The sweet snap shows Pink completing the hair transformation on her daughter herself, coupled with a close-up of Willow's new tresses. Pink, ever the parenting advocate, completed the post with the hashtags "blue hair don't care" and "get your own kids". In order to defer the nay-sayers, the mom of two disabled the comments.
Pink, of course, is no stranger to dying her hair herself - hence her moniker. She might go for a more natural shade of blonde now, but lest we forget when she exploded on to the scene in the early noughties with that bright pink hair.
Jessica Simpson kickstarted the controversy on Tuesday when she shared a snap of Maxwell with beautifully curled hair and purple ends. The 7-year-old specifically chose purple to match that of her favorite Disney character, Dove Cameron's Mal in Descendants. Clearly, mom and daughter were pleased by her sweet transformation, but the comments section was less than positive. Trolls flocked in their hoards to berate Simpson, with one asking, "Why start ruining her hair so young". Others slammed the color choice, saying they didn't like it at all. Thankfully, other stars were supportive.
Hairstylists Jill Buck and Riawna Capri who both work at the Nine Zero One salon in LA where Maxwell got her new 'do were quick to say how great it looked. There will always be mommy shamers, but at least you can count on people like Pink to rally round when times get tough!
