PAW Patrol, Nickelodeon's favorite and extremely popular pups are expanding their do-gooding and safety awareness efforts with a new pro-social campaign called PAW Patrol Safety First! PAW Patrol Safety First! launched November 5th and is a multiyear program with the primary goal of teaching kids all about water safety, fire safety, and road safety best practices.

PAW Patrol, now in its 7th season, is currently the number one ranked show for preschool-aged children. Nickelodeon along with Safe Kids Worldwide is optimistic that this new campaign will be just as successful.

Safe Kids Worldwide is a nonprofit organization, established in 1988, whose mission is to protect kids and keep them safe on the road, at home and while they play. Safe Kids Worldwide reports that preventable injuries are the number one cause of death for children in the United States. Throughout the world, almost one million children die of an injury each year, and almost every one of these tragedies is preventable.

Since its creation, the organization has helped reduce the U.S. childhood death rate from unintentional injury by nearly 60 percent. They do this by providing families with education, tools and resources that help them to prevent injuries from happening in the first place. Torine Creppy, the president of Safe Kids Worldwide said: “We look forward to working with Nickelodeon and PAW Patrol to get life-saving information about water, fire and road safety to families around the world.”

In addition to Nickelodeon and Safe Kids Worldwide backing this new show, World Champion Swimmer, Michael Phelps has signed up to serve as the Water Safety Ambassador for PAW Patrol Safety First! Phelps is excited about the role he'll play in increasing water safety awareness. Michael credits his love for swimming to a water safety program that he took as a child.

Phelps said that his mom required that he and his sisters learn how to swim so that they would be safe in the water and that introduction was the beginning of his love of swimming. It also was a factor in the establishment of the Michael Phelps Foundation, which focuses on water safety practices. Michael told reporters that he's "looking forward to utilizing this partnership to bring the message of water safety globally to kids and parents in a way that’s easy and fun to digest.”

Everyone involved in the creation and production of PAW Patrol Safety First! is thrilled to have this platform that will enable them to reach even more children in a way that they never have before. They are hopeful that this joint venture along with the power of the PAW Patrol will help to reduce the death rate from unintentional injury by even more and help to keep kids everywhere safer.
