A recent survey has found that parents are concerned that their children are not getting the right nutrition. One of the main responsibilities that mom carries is making sure her children are healthy and taken care of. This means making sure that they get the right food for their physical health.

Eating healthy can also have implications for mental health, and are essential for their overall wellbeing. However, when faced with a picky eater, this can be incredibly difficult. Since mom knows how important it is, it can be quite stressful when she thinks that her children are not getting enough.

According to Study Finds, a new survey has found that the majority of parents are afraid that their children are not getting the right nutrients. This survey was done on 2,000 parents, and it was completed by OnePoll, on behalf of Gerber.

The survey found that overall, more than half (55%) of parents said that they have a child who is a picky eater and is hesitant to try new foods. Being wary of new foods and flavors can be considered “normal” in children, but this doesn’t stop mom from worrying about it. Along with this, the survey also found:

  • 83% of parents said that they are worried their children won’t get the proper nutrients due to their fussy eating.
  • 2 in 3 parents want their children to explore new foods.
  • However, 4 in 10 feel stressed when they offer their children new food that they know they are unfamiliar with.
  • 55% of parents want to introduce their children to a more plant-based diet, but 47% don’t know how to introduce them.
  • More than half (55%) stated that they struggle to find new foods that are nutritious, interesting, flavorful and foods that are safe for their children.

It seems like there is a lot to worry about when it comes to making sure our children get the best food, and that they eat it. The survey also wanted to see the exact factors that were stopping mom from exploring new food for their children, and they found multiple barriers.

  • The biggest one was a lack of information on the types of nutrients that children need
  • Another was their child’s preferences
  • And the other concern was the cost of food

Parents also stated that even though they want to introduce a more plant-based diet, they do not know enough about the nutrients and vitamins that this diet offers, so it still leaves them unsure.
