Once upon a time, New Year’s Eve was probably one of your favorite nights of the year to get all dolled up and party like it was 1999 with all of your closest friends and family — as well as perfect strangers. However, things change when you have kids. While some parents still opt to get a babysitter and hit the town, many parents opt for a quiet night at home. In fact, according to a new study, the majority of parents are scrapping wild NYE celebrations altogether.

According to new research courtesy of Netflix, 77 percent of parents in the United States actually prefer to stay in than go out on New Year’s Eve. Okay, so you might not be super surprised by that statistic, considering most parents don’t have the energy to stay up until midnight as it is. But even more interesting is that most Millennials and even Generation Z’ers also prefer staying in over going out, according to an alternative YPulse study. Basically, staying in the new going out!

In addition to all the NYE countdowns you can watch in the comfort of your home, Netflix is giving you even more programming to keep you and your family busy if you plan on staying up until the wee hours of next year with their 14 New Year’s Eve countdowns. After all, according to their poll, 74 percent of parents allow their kids to stay up later on New Year’s.

The special programming includes animated series such as Pinky Malinky, Super Monsters, Boss Baby and Motown Magic, to tween targeted programming like No Good Nick, Family Reunion, as well as the latest addition to the catalogue, Prince of Peoria and the upcoming comedy Malibu Rescue and more millennial driven new specials from Prince of Peoria, Alexa & Katie and Fuller House.

If you can’t wait until New Year’s Eve to tap into Netflix’s latest offerings, you don’t have to. The programming will debut on December 26. Happy celebrating!
