It is a time that a lot of parents can come to dread, and that is when their teenager is ready to start dating. This is just another journey in motherhood, and there is definitely some adjusting that needs to happen. These are the kinds of moments that can have mom sitting and thinking about when her child was a baby, and now they are all grown up.
They are now starting to go out into the world on their own and find themselves. Part of this means starting to be romantically interested in others and wanting to start going out on dates. This can have moms nervous for many reasons, and every family is going to have their own rules on dating, what they think is a good idea, and what should be avoided.
Mom doesn’t want to do or say anything to upset her teen, but she may want to suggest some date ideas that she is comfortable with, places that she feels her child will be safe, and we have 10 of them that mom may want to subtly suggest.
10/10 A Classic
According to By Sophie Lee, there is nothing wrong with a classic date night like dinner and a movie. Mom can arrange to drop them off, and pick up the teens, and she knows that they are in a public place, and will be able to get help if they need it.
9/10 Go To The Mall
While this may not seem like a date, it certainly can be with some imagination. According to Money Prodigy, you can find all kinds of mall scavenger hunt lists online that you can print out and send them off. They could do some window shopping, and have lunch at the food court.
8/10 Volunteer
Volunteering doesn’t immediately sound like a fun date, but it could work, especially if you pick somewhere like an animal shelter. According to Style Craze, an animal shelter may be the best place to hang out on a date. They can do some good for the community, and they get to be around cuddly, cute animals all day.
7/10 The Zoo
The zoo is not the most obvious choice for a date, but it can be incredibly fun. Your teen will get some exercise in, spend some time outside and have fun with the person they are on a date with. Zoos are also a bit more affordable, and there is usually enough there to keep them busy all day.
6/10 Bowling
Bowling is another great idea, and it is a good one for the wintertime, or when the weather is bad. This is a great idea for a solo date, or a group date (which mom may be more comfortable with), and it is fun and not that expensive. Again, it is in a public place.
5/10 Escape Room
Escape rooms are becoming incredibly popular, and this may be somewhere your teens really want to go. This is another date that is perfect for a group date or even just a double date. Mom will feel better knowing more are in attendance, and it is a great chance for them to see how well they work together.
4/10 Arcade
Arcades are a classic, and mom will likely approve of her teens going to hang out at an arcade. They are usually incredibly busy and populated, and they are fun. Send your teen with some change for tokens, and tell them to go have fun. A lot of newer arcades have restaurants built in, so they can also grab some dinner as they talk about their recent wins.
3/10 Mini Golfing
Like bowling, this is a classic date night idea, and it can be incredibly fun. It is another event in a public place, and your teens can be a bit competitive if they want, or they can let their date win to show how sweet they are.
2/10 Local Carnival
Sometimes, date nights mean a bit of creativity, especially if it is not the first date. It may be a good idea to look online to see if there are any carnivals, fairs, or festivals in your area. If your teens don’t drive, you may need to make sure they get there, but mom may prefer that anyway. These are great places to have some fun, be around a lot of people and try and win some stuffed prizes for each other.
1/10 Game Night
If you want to make sure they are really safe, why not suggest you host date night. Now, you have to promise to give them some privacy, but you can provide the board games and snacks for them to have a game date night at home.
