If you're little one is just getting ready to begin kindergarten, high school graduation is probably the furthest thing from your mind. However, if you want to give your child a heartwarming and truly unique gift when they graduate, it just may be time to start planning now!
Bryan Martin, a dad from North Carolina, presented one of the most clever, thoughtful, and truly special gifts to his daughter Brenna when she graduated high school that was years in the making. While Brenna herself admits she thought she was getting "some cheesy graduation card" when her father informed her he had something special for her to mark the momentous occasion, she could have never predicted what she was about to open.
Martin had purchased a copy of Dr. Seuss' classic children's book, Oh, The Places You’ll Go! for his daughter, who admitted the book was a favorite of hers. Martin, however, went one step further and had turned the book into a time capsule of treasured memories for Brenna that she will never forget.
“Every year, for the past 13 years, since the day you started kindergarten I’ve gotten every teacher, coach, and principal to write a little something about you inside this book,” he told Brenna, who shared her amazing gift on Imgur.
Inside Brenna's favorite book were pages upon pages of notes and memories from "every teacher, coach, and principal" she had over the years. What's more incredible than her father creating this amazing memory for his daughter over the years is that he managed to keep it a secret from her despite everyone else knowing about it!
Brenna explained that the gift was more meaningful to her than anything else she could have received, and she marveled at how the comments evolved as she grew older throughout her schooling.
"Sitting there reading through this book there are encouraging and sweet words from every teacher I love and remember through my years in this small town. My early teachers mention my "Pigtails and giggles," while my high school teachers mention my "Wit and sharp thinking.." But they all mention my humor and love for life. It is astounding to receive something this moving, touching, nostalgic, and thoughtful," Brenna wrote.
Of course, the newly minted high school grad revealed she "burst out in tears" upon reading the book, writing that, "it is astounding to receive something this moving, touching, nostalgic, and thoughtful." For his part, Bryan Martin wrote that he simply wanted to do something to let his daughter know just how much he meant to her. 'I cannot believe Brenna posted this... she has always been the light of my life. Doing this was just a small way of letting her know."
Since it was first posted on Imgur Brenna's story has been viewed more than 25 million times, with thousands of parents feeling inspired by her father's thoughtful gift. Brenna herself wrote how moved she was by her father's awe-inspiring gift.
"I can't express how much I love my Dad for this labor of love."
