For some kids, the pressure of competitive sports is just too much, and they don't really enjoy it. When there are yelling parents, harsh coaches, and the pressure to win, it may just be too much. Kids with anxiety can even become stressed out when it's their turn to play. Other kids may struggle to play well on a team, or maybe they have a hard time cooperating and sharing as they play.

Of course, not all youth competitive sports end up being very serious or putting a ton of pressure on kids, but usually winning is part of the goal. It's competitive as it's designed to be. Some kids work better alone or would prefer to not have their win depending on how other people play. Being competitive also doesn't come naturally to everyone, and some kids have the personality type where they truly won't care if they do well or not.

Non-competitive, more individual sports do exist and there is one out there that may be right for your child. As moms, we may lean towards wanting our kids to be active, and we should be willing to find a sport for them that they will love and enjoy. Team sports with coaches is just one direction to go. Here are 10 more individualized, non-competitive sports for your child under the of 10 years old.

This is a more expensive activity but if your non-competitive child is caring for this horse and riding well, it's worth asking if a center near you has scholarships or will exchange care of horses or stables for lessons.

6 Yoga
