Nicole Kidman has a devout following of fans who flock to see every movie she makes. Her Hollywood career required her life to be in front of the cameras, yet there's a lot about her personal life that she has kept very private –among them being details surrounding her children.

She's kept conversations about her children to a minimum, so much so, that very few people are aware of the fact that Nicole Kidman is a mother-of-four. While some women yearn to have children of their own, others bask in the glory of adoption. Nicole Kidman has experienced both.

She has two adopted children from her marriage to Tom Cruise, and she shares two biological children with her current husband, Keith Urban. There are many reasons she has kept the relationship with her children very, very quiet.

Nicole Kidman's Adopted Children with Tom Cruise

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise met on the set of the movie Days Of Thunder and had a very public, whirlwind Hollywood romance. After dating for just one year, the two married in 1990 and seemed to be the picture perfect couple.

It wasn't long before Nicole became pregnant, but sadly, Marie Claire reports that she suffered an ectopic pregnancy and lost their first child. After recovering from their loss, Tom and Nicole decided to adopt. They made aware of 2 children who were part of the church of Scientology, and who were born to a family who was unable to care for them. The Hollywood couple officially adopted Isabella and Connor.

A little while after the adoption, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise experienced another miscarriage which was followed almost immediately by their divorce in 2001. This is when things really went silent, as Nicole and Tom opted not to release the custody details to the press.

Ultimately, Isabella and Connor agreed to live with Tom and their relationship with Nicole became strained. It has been speculated that this was due to Nicole not belonging to nor believing in the church of Scientology. So, the children were raised with their original beliefs.

Nicole's public statements all indicate she loves and adores her two adopted children, and the children have stated the same loving feelings towards Nicole. However, it appears they never actually see one another. When Nicole's father passed away, her adopted children did not attend his funeral, and when her adopted daughter was married, Nicole was not invited to the wedding –although, it has been stated that Connor and Tom were not in attendance either.

Nicole Kidman's life with her adopted children is far from being a conventional one, it does not appear that this is her doing nor her choice. Cheat Sheet revealed that Tom and the children are devout followers of the church of Scientology and this church, according to Leah Remini, has classified her as an "SP," which means "suppressive person." According to the church of Scientology, this is an individual who does not follow the beliefs of the church.

Nicole has publicly addressed this issue with Who Magazine,

“They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them.” She went on to say, “I believe — that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here."

She has also expressed her desire to share her current life with Isabella and Connor. She stated, “I’d love them to live with us, but what can you do?”

Nicole Kidman's Biological Children with Keith Urban

After marrying Keith Urban in 2006, Nicole gave birth to their daughter, Sunday Rose in 2008. They had some ups and downs with pregnancy #2; so, they opted to use a surrogate to bring their daughter, Faith, into the world in 2010.

The lovebirds put a lot of thought into their children's names. Marie Claire reported that Sundays (the actual day of the week) used to be difficult for Nicole after she was estranged from Tom and their adopted children, and that changed so greatly after she settled down with Keith Urban. She admitted, "We went from dreading Sunday to really loving it. It was the day when nobody was going to bother you, you could stay in bed, you could do what you wanted to do. We just thought, 'What a great name for our baby.'"

In an equally poetic naming experience, Faith Margaret entered the world. In this case, Nicole says her name was chosen because they "never gave up faith that they would have another child together."

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have created a very loving life together with their family unit taking precedence over everything else in their lives. They've opted to leave the glitz and glam of Hollywood behind and they now reside in Tennessee with their beautiful daughters.

A true pillar of devotion and unconditional love, it appears that Nicole relishes in being a mother to Sunday and Faith, and yearns for the day that Isabella and Connor decide to welcome her into their lives again. She has kept the door open for all of her children to experience the unconditional love that only a mother can truly exude.
