School's almost out for summer! Summer is equal parts terror and relief for us parents. Once the kids are home, they need to be entertained. And while naturally, we want to get them outside and playing, sometimes they're going to be in the house. Thankfully, June means we get new movies and shows to Netflix. And this June doesn't disappoint in terms of content for kids.

One of the best movies of 2018, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, swings into Netflix on June 26th. This version of Spider-Man focuses on Miles Morales, the first Spider-Man of color. In addition to its importance in terms of representation for kids of color, it was also critically acclaimed. Into the Spiderverse is the first non-Disney film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature since 2011. And the first non-Disney/Pixar film to win when nominated against a Disney/Pixar film since 2006.

And the film that lost the Academy Award to Into the Spiderverse, Ralph Breaks the Internet, is also making its way to Netflix this month. A sequel to the popular Wreck-It Ralph, this animated romp brought us inside the depths of the internet. And we got to see all of the Disney princesses all together for the first time ever. Ralph Breaks the Internet is also special because it is likely the last Disney animated film to go to Netflix first. Disney+, Disney's new streaming platform, arrives this winter, and all Disney content will be found there going forward.

Even though it's June, we also get the newest version of our favorite green holiday grump. Dr. Seuss' The Grinch steals its way into our streaming on June 5th.

If you've caught the new film Malibu Rescue on Netflix, you'll be happy to know that it's getting its own spin-off series. That is just one of the new original Netflix content that's coming in June. We're also getting a new Super Monsters, "Monster Pets." That's right, the little cuties are getting cute pets! And at the end of the month, we get a brand new season of the musical show Motown Magic where Ben and his friends will continue to use their magic and the power of art to make their town a better place.
