Netflix Officially Cancels 'Jessica Jones'

We’ve got unfortunately news for Jessica Jones fans. That’s because there are new reports that indicate that Netflix is looking to pull the plug on the fan favorite series. Both the online streaming service and Marvel will be finishing off the series after Season 3.

According to Engadget, Jessica Jones has enjoyed a cult following as it chronicles the live of one of the darker Marvel characters, so to speak. The mysterious figure is given the task to solve crimes in New York City with her detective agency, Alias Investigations. The psychological thriller often followed the cases of people who have special abilities or those with post-traumatic stress syndromes.

While Jessica herself wanted to spread a little good in the Big Apple, she has her own obstacles that she needs to overcome. While saving the world is a priority that is high on her list, she also finds herself trying to save her apartment and just survive her day job and make it to the end of the day.

The first episode of Jessica Jones premiered back in November of 2015. The show has filmed each of its seasons in New York City and has also received plenty of nominations and awards throughout the years including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and a Peabody Award for Best Entertainment in 2016.

Because of the show’s graphic nature, the superhero show is intended for adults and not good kids, needless to say. Many moms and dads have enjoyed following Jessica Jones and her cases during their Netflix and chill-on-the-couch evenings after the kids have gone to bed.

If that weren’t enough, Netflix is also calling it quits on The Punisher, which officially puts an end to the online streaming giant’s partnership with Marvel. A lot of critics and fans have stated that this is an end of an era for Netflix. It’s been noted that Disney also has a stake in Netflix’s online competitor, Hulu.

Netflix will continue to air Jessica Jones well into 2019. So far, a debut date for Jessica Jones Season 3 has not been set.
