The world is normally in awe of those parents and couples who decide to adopt a child and bring it into their homes. These people who have given a child a second chance when they need it most. Adoption is not an easy process and it is something that a lot of people invest a lot of time into, but it is all worth it knowing you are going to be bringing home a sweet child at the end of it all. It would never usually cross anyone’s mind that they would give away their adopted child.

Myka Stauffer was one of those parents, when her and her husband, James, decided to adopt a boy from China. The couple have a YouTube channel and they released a video explaining their decision to stop caring for their adopted son, according to PEOPLE. They adopted their son, Huxley, from China almost three years ago. They were told that Huxley had autism and their reason for rehoming him is their unawareness of what it would be like to care for a child with autism.

James states in the video that the boy has more special needs than they were initially aware of, that they were not told when they adopted him. He also goes on to say that the couple have been trying to get him the help he needs, and that they really do love him. The reassurance he offers doesn’t comfort many people who feel that they would never rehome their child if they truly loved him.

The couple stated many times that they just felt that Huxley needed more than they could give him, that it wasn’t a good fit. It can be seen as a ‘cruel to be kind’ situation, and while it may seem heartless, one has to wonder if they should keep a child that they truly can not care for. Is that fair to the child or in his best interest?

Some fans are scrutinizing the couple stating that this whole adoption was a ploy for views to gain more monetary benefits. He couple has posted numerous videos on their channel about Huxley and the adoption process. They have now asked their subscribers to respect their privacy and that they would not be discussing any more details about why they made this decision.
