This mom just totally won Halloween. She also proved that all the costume fun isn't just for the kids. We promise that you will be inspired, too. California mom of four, Carrie Motley has has had a very specific Halloween tradition for the past six years: she dressed up in costume every single day throughout the month of October to pick up her kids from school. Her boys, Ryan, 16, Sean, 14, Kyle, 11, and Cade, 8, attend Rocklin Unified School District and while they weren't huge fans of the idea when she first started, they now join in on the fun - making the tradition a family affair.

"My high school boys laugh at me and with me," Motley tells Yahoo! Lifestyle. "They have been willing to join me when their school schedule coordinates. They are totally used to my crazy."

The costumes that she makes are all actually homemade, which takes her fun to a while new level. So what's her "Why" for being so festive every year? She feels like it all boils down to the confidence that this teaches her children.

“I have seen my kids explain my costumes to many others like it is so normal, which has developed their courage and confidence,” Motley shares. “Dressing up daily has helped me with my own confidence as well. I had a hard time the first year even walking up to the school in a straight line because I was laughing so hard.”

“Each of [my sons] have participated at times. That is brave — it shows confidence,” Motley says. “I remind them often about appreciating and respecting differences in others, not to be worried about appearances.”

And of course, there is the fun in all of it that is so exhilarating for her. Her sons wait in anticipation every day to see what costume she will arrive at the school dressed as and we can't think of anything more fun to do all month long, either. The school has even taken note and she was recently invited to speak to the students about her mission.

"It was a wonderful opportunity to talk to our school about why I dress up and to teach them about kindness and respect,” Motley says. “When we have courage and confidence, it fills us inside and then we, in turn, are able to fill and lift others. It’s so important for elementary students to find their own confidence.”
