As moms, we all know how popular wine and alcohol is in today's mommy culture. You may even to subscribe to it. There are many memes, t-shirts, and glasses proclaiming a moms love of wine to make it through the hardest moments of parenting.

While the consumption of alcohol to "escape" is highly accepted, and even laughed at, marijuana remains a recently made legal taboo. Canadian mom Caitlin Fladager took a stand on Instagram against wine and wants to make weed just as acceptable as an escape. Weed may even be a less harmful escape.

Fladager is a 25-year-old mother of two who was suffering from sometimes crippling anxiety. She turned to marijuana to manage it and she says it made her a better mom. Fladager uses social media to promote mental health awareness and share her struggles with modern motherhood. She makes some valid points in her now viral post about accepting marijuana.

She writes, "It’s so funny to me how frowned upon marijuana is. No one looks twice when a mom says she enjoys “mom juice” aka wine." Drinking has been accepted by moms and our society. It's made a joke to chug some wine after the kids are in bed or it's ok to drink to make it through the day or its ok to look forward to drinking at night after a long day.

In reality, that's called alcoholism and many moms have started on the fun wine path and end up in the depths of alcoholism. As harmful and addictive as alcohol is, it's legal everywhere. Weed is legal in Canada, where Fladager lives, and it's legal in a handful of US states.

Colorado was the first state to legalize it and 11 states plus the District of Columbia have followed suit. Marijuana will most likely be legal in the US in the next twenty years but has some more hoops to jump through first. Younger generations are more accepting of marijuana and more and more moms are admitting to smoking it to relax.

Marijuana is a naturally occurring plant that isn't addictive. It has been disproven as being a gateway drug and many people use THC to ease their over anxious or depressed minds. Marijuana still suffers from the fear of the unknown when the truth is, its safer than alcohol.

If moms can drink wine and laugh over it, moms should be able to smoke a bowl with the same ease.
