One single mom decided to get ahead of any judgemental strangers by putting a sign on her daughter's back explaining why they were both out and about at the grocery store.

Single mom MaryAnn Fausey Resendez had to go to the store and had no choice but to bring her 5-year-old daughter along with her. Already prepared for all the judge Judy's she may see, she made a sign and taped it to her daughter's back explaining the situation...and asking whoever was reading it to back up.

Her clever sign read "I am only 5. I can't stay home alone so I have to buy groceries with mommy ... Before you start judging stay back 6 feet." Going to the grocery store is, of course, necessary and with social distancing rules in place, most officials, and stores themselves, are asking that only one adult per household goes shopping. It's preferred to leave kids at home, but that just isn't an option sometimes

Single parents don't often have child care available at night, or the money to pay for it. Not everyone has trusted friends or family nearby either. And if single parents are following social distancing rules, they shouldn't be welcoming anyone into their home anyway.

Resendez was prepared for anything and did this so strangers wouldn't judge her. Her caption for her post reads in part, "The sign I made her wear cuz i just know some dumbass will take a picture & talk sh*t on social media not knowing all the facts." The single mom from Texas is a firefighter and tattoo artist who owns her own shop.

She sounds like a badass and after her post went viral, many other parents, and us, totally agreed. As a mom, you do what you need to do. Taking a 5-year-old to the grocery store is safer, and more legal, then leaving them home alone.
