Mindy opened up about the loss of her mother in honor of World Pancreatic Cancer Day. Even though her mom has been gone since 2012, she still recalls the pieces of advice she was given. She said that they did everything they could for her, but they didn’t catch the illness in time.

This is incredibly deep advice, and advice that a lot of people should take more seriously. It speaks to how we all need to be kind to ourselves, love ourselves, and trust that we know what is best for us.

Mindy has been doing work with pancreatic cancer and helping to support research that is going to help detect the cancer early and provide treatment for families. In a video, she spoke about how she hopes her work will allow those living today to have a chance at a life that her mother didn’t have.

Mindy’s mom, Dr. Chokalingam, was an OB/GYN in Boston, and she was described as warm, friendly, caring, and a hard worker. Mindy and her mother were incredibly close and the actress, who is also a mom, said that losing her mother was the hardest thing she has ever had to go through.
