Miley Cyrus has opened up about how her mother and father reacted when some private photos were leaked. It can be worrisome when you have a child in the public eye. We often think of what celebrity parents have to go through living life in the public eye, but we rarely think about what parents have to deal with when it comes to their child being the one in the spotlight. Miley Cyrus has been doing music and acting in the public eye since she was a child, and the world has watched her go through many things.

Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, a well-known country singer knows a thing or two about the industry and how it works, but his daughter is living it in a completely different era than him, so there is bound to be some challenges. According to She Knows, Miley gave the honest reactions of her parents when private pictures of her were leaked.

This photo that went viral happened in 2008 when Miley was just a minor. This is a far different cry than adult celebrities who have leaked their own private information or pictures. Even though it happened more than 10 years ago, Miley is now speaking about it and it came up in an interview with Rolling Stone. Miley said that her father “ignored it” and she said that was quite normal, because dad’s don’t tend to want to discuss or think of things like this with their young daughters.

She said that her mother had a very different reaction. She said her mother was angry and that is a feeling to which a lot of moms can relate. She said that her mother felt like it could be distracting from what Miley was doing with her career. Miley also opened up about the performance she did at the 2009 Kids Choice Awards, where she was criticized for appearing to dance on what others called, “a stripper pole.” Her mother was not too happy about that either and asked her why her performance could not just be about her song.

Miley said that she sees a bigger issue with all of this, and that is allowing women to be comfortable with their bodies. She believe the media has a tendency to “slut-shame” her, and they would provoke a response by highlighting a certain part of her body. She thinks the world has come a long way in figuring out who is the “bad guy” and who is the “victim” in that situation. The life of a celebrity is not something a lot of parents would want for their children, because we know this is the reality a lot of them face.
