There have been many conspiracy theories surrounding this latest royal pregnancy. Many royal watchers have been convinced that Markle has already given birth and was taking time to bond privately with her new baby, especially after Buckingham Palace released a statement suggesting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wouldn't be posing for pictures with their newborn as they leave the hospital, like Prince William and Kate Middleton have done with all three of their children.
"Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private," the statement read. "The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."
Many other royal experts took the opportunity to shut down reports Markle had already given birth, assuring the public that she was definitely still pregnant.
The Palace also shut down the conspiracy theories and assured the public they would make an announcement with the newest royal was on their way, as they did this morning. Fans also don't know if the Duke and Duchess will be expecting a boy or a girl, and it seems neither do they.
During a royal appearance, a young girl told PEOPLE she asked the expectant mother if she was having a boy or girl. "We don’t know whether it’s a boy or girl, we are keeping it as a surprise.’" Markle reportedly told the young fan.
Today will be an exciting day as royal watchers wait to hear if the newest royal will be a boy or girl, and what they will be named. British bookmakers told CNN that if current bets are to be trusted, it looks like the couple will be welcoming a daughter and her name may be Ivy. Alice, Diana, Victoria, and Elizabeth have also been popular bets for girl names while Arthur, James, and Alexander are the most popular bets for boy names.
