A new survey has found that most are asleep before 10 at night, but they are still waking up tired in the morning. Sleep is one of the most precious things in life, and all you need to do is ask any parent what they wished they had more of, and they will say sleep. Sleep is vital for a person's health, both physical and mental. Being a parent is not only exhausting physically but mentally.

When you add the fact that there are parents out there who have children who don’t like to sleep, you are going to end up with some pretty tired parents. Parents who want to go to bed at night, but also want some time alone.

However, there are still a lot of parents who do go to bed early, but that doesn’t seem to be helping.

According to Study Finds, a survey was done that has found that many people are in bed and asleep before 10 p.m., but they are still waking up tired in the morning.

This survey was done on 2,000 participants, and it was completed by OnePoll, on behalf of DSF. It found that the average American goes to sleep by 9:54 p.m., but that doesn’t seem to be enough to have them up and energized for the next day. The survey also uncovered some other interesting facts about sleep.

  • 4 in 10 describe themselves as “bad sleepers”
  • 60% said that their nighttime routine needs a bit of work
  • Only 24% said that they sleep better when they go to sleep earlier
  • 3 in 10 said that they can not get themselves to bed before 10
  • More than half stated that they need it to be completely dark outside before they can think about going to sleep
  • 27% said that they need to make sure all the doors are locked before they go to sleep for the night.

It is clear that the time parents go to bed is going to have an impact on how much sleep is gotten every night, but that parents need to be looking at their routine. They spend a lot of time on their child’s bedtime routine, that they may be neglecting their own when it is just as important.

Parents need to prepare their body for sleep, so that they can fall asleep at a reasonable time every night. Experts state that if you are struggling to fall asleep at night, make sure your bedroom is set up to be a sleep-friendly place, and this means creating a pitch dark room and turning off all electronics one hour before you want to fall asleep.
