'Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil' Looks So Ridiculously Good

When the first Maleficent movie first aired back in 2014, we all watched in awe as Angelina Jolie took on this role and completely owned. In fact, we might have enjoyed it more than our children did. Disney recently announced that a Maleficent 2 is in the works and an even bigger announcement was made this week: the release date is being moved up by seven months!

This is pretty huge new, especially since movies are typically pushed back instead of forwards so bring on the countdown for Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil.

The highly anticipated film will hit theaters on Oct. 18, 2019, Walt Disney Studios announced on Wednesday, after previously saying it will be released on May 29, 2020. With the first movie grossing $758.5 million globally on a $180 million budget we're sure this one is predicted to hit huge numbers, too.

Now, we're not sure why the date change, however, there are some whisper that it had to do with other movies releasing around the same time. The new release date goes hand in hand with an untitled film from horror-maker Blumhouse.

This will also be the second weekend for the new The Adams Family movie the adaptation of Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch, Zombieland 2, and Gemini Man. Maybe families will want to take their kids for some double or triple features at the theater?

With the original date, the movie would have been pinned against “Fast & Furious 9” and The Spongebob Movie.

Angelina Jolie continues her role as the beloved villain, Maleficent. She is also joined by well-known celebrities Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville, who appeared in the first installment, and new ones including Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Skrein, Harris Dickinson, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film is being directed by Joachim Rønning, also known for his work with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

We can't wait to see what happens in this one!
