We are truly living in the age of the Internet now. It's still something that people are amazed by and have adopted to using in their daily life - well beyond just staying connected via social media. Nope. We use the internet for practically everything and to track everything, too. Want to know when you might have high levels of carbon monoxide in your home? Buy a detector thats attached to an app. Want to answer your home door bell while you are at work? You guessed it: there's an app for that, too. And now, with Pampers new creation, we think we have seen it all.
Pampers announced earlier this week that there is about to be a new diaper that can track your babies urine (not poop) and their sleep schedule. Pretty interesting huh? This new creation rivals a similar product from their competitor, Huggies, who released a diaper that will text parents when their child poops in Korea last year.
We love that they are both trying to make our lives easier!
Here's the full scoop: The new Pampers line is called Lumi by Pampers and the main focus is for parents to be able to both understand and track their babies daily development during all hours of the day. It works by using an activity sensor that secures to a "landing" on the front of a baby's diaper for all the tracking, which gets logged via a sensor into a corresponding app. The monitor itself comes with the monitor and a 10-day supply of diapers. Additional packs of the Lumi by Pamper diapers will be sold separately and as of right now, pricing has not been finalized.
And if you were wondering, yes, there is a waitlist ahead of the US launch this fall.
Even though the whole idea can sound a little crazy, and you might be thinking "why can't mom and dad just give the diaper a peak themselves?" it actually will make the lives of new parents much easier. Think about it. How many times has your pediatrician asked you to track whats going on with your new baby? Lots. And in all honestly, this simple request is harder to think about in the moment whenever you are in the trenches and sleep deprived while taking care of a new babe. Add more children at home to the mix and it gets even harder.
With this new invention, parents won't even have to think twice, as they will get smart phone alerts for all those things. "Parents didn't ask for a poo or pee alarm; they wanted something more like the smart watches of today," a Pampers spokesperson told CNN Business. "The activity sensor tracks baby's sleep and since it's there on the diaper, it can also track ... if a diaper is wet."
