Luke Perry might be gone, but he will never be forgotten. The actor’s daughter Sophie Perry has broken her silence less than a few days after the Beverly Hills 90210 star’s death. The 52-year-old actor died on Monday after suffering a stroke a few days earlier.

According to CNN, Perry’s publicist stated that his entire family, including his son Jack, were with him and at his bedside before his death. Perry’s daughter Sophie, however, traveled back home from Africa. The 18-year-old has been working in the continent as part of a charity initiative.

After spending the last several days with her loved ones, Sophie has taken to her Instagram account to share a photo of her and famous father along with a heartfelt message to his fans and supporters.

The grieving daughter wrote, “A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, and in the past 24 hours, I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.”

The young girl also goes on to say that while she can’t respond to all of the messages she’s received both at home and online, she sees them and that she appreciates them. Many of Luke Perry’s fans from all over the world have been sharing their greatest on and off-screen memories of the actor, whom many say left this world too soon.

Sophie added, “I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”

Many of Luke Perry’s former 90210 co-stars, including Shannen Doherty and Ian Ziering, have also taken to their social media accounts to express their grief and sadness over the loss of what they describe as a good friend and gentle soul. The actor became a household name thanks to his heartthrob status as the brooding bad boy Dylan on the long-running series.

Most recently Perry also starred in the Netflix series Riverdale. Production has been temporarily halted after the news of the actor’s death was announced. So far no memorial services for the public have been announced.
