It seems that every few weeks we're seeing a hot new nail trend that we cannot wait to try. Gone are the days when the French manicure was the most adventurous thing to happen to nails because now we have rainbow nails, fish nails, and even seashell nails for those who like to get adventurous with their manicures. Nail artists are truly pushing the envelope with incredible new ways to spice up their nail art, and this latest trend is really showing how creative they can get. Lava lamp nails are now trending on Instagram and they may be the coolest thing you'll see all day.

Liam Peter is one nail artist who recently took the hot 60s lava lamp trend and turned it into some pretty incredible nail art. "Lava lamp nails!! Let's start a trend! #lavalampnails

Have wanted to do something like this for like a year and finally did it," he captioned his post on Instagram. The nail artist writes the achieved the now trending look using The GelBottle Inc's 'Cosmopolitan' and 'Bellini' colors.

"Layering jelly and neon gel polishes gives depth and makes it seem as though the blobs are really flowing around," Peter told Allure. "The real star, though, is the sunlight. Just like with holographic effects, these come alive when the sun hits the nail."

Love how Gelulicious was inspired by Peter's lava lamp nails and created their own in a variety of different colors.

Peter's trend is definitely catching on as many nail artists are trying their own version of the lava lamp nail.

There seems to be no end to the creative way nail artists are interpreting the lava lamp nail trend.

Some, like this nail artist who goes by the name rainbownails on Instagram, created a nail that totally looks like a lava lamp in action. "Tried something on myself took forever looks pretty cool but probably wont keep it," she wrote. It's not surprising that creating something like this would be time consuming, but the results are truly awesome!

Peter says he was inspired to try lava lamp nails after seeing nail artist Alec Cole Hinz's incredible aquarium nails.

While lava lamp nails may not be the trend for you, it's amazing to see just how creative nail artists can get. Can't wait to see what they come up with next!
