Reality television star and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner thinks that she should be called a self-made billionaire. Kim Kardashian’s little sister insists that she’s put in all of the hard work to build her empire, despite the fact that she has long been on the hit E! television show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. A lot of critics have argued that the 21-year-old, who was just named the youngest ever self-made billionaire, has made a name for herself mostly because of her family’s connections in the entertainment world.
Just recently Forbes Magazine crowned Kylie Jenner as the youngest businesswoman ever to hit the billion-dollar mark. Some people have argued online that fellow billionaire Jay-Z is a better example of someone that is “self-made” considering how he built his empire on his own and without a famous family by his side.
During an interview with Paper Magazine, the celebrity mother insists that she never received a dime from her parents. She says that her parents Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner have always encouraged her to work hard and to achieve her goals on her own. Jenner also insists that there really are no other words in the dictionary to describe her success and says that she is “self-made” regardless of what the critics think.
She told the publication, “I did have a platform, but none of my money is inherited. I did not get money from my parents past the age of 15. I used 100% of my own money to start the company, not a dime in my bank account is inherited."
The platform that Jenner says helped her is mostly through social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. At one point, the young star was considered the ‘Queen of Snapchat’ and has over 129 million followers on her Instagram account.
Jenner also added that she herself can’t believe how fast she’s managed to surpass her family members in terms of her wealth thanks to her Kylie Cosmetics brand. She also said that it’s been “an amazing and wild” ride that she feels blessed to be the youngest person in the world to become a billionaire through her own work.
Kyle Jenner owns 100 percent of her Kylie Cosmetics line. She maintains that most of her success is due to good timing and good luck. She also credits her social media fans and followers for making her the superstar that she is today.
