Loyalty is everything. It’s hard to remember a time when the Kardashian family wasn’t a household name, but back in the early 2000s, there was another small-screen queen that was ruling popular culture. Paris Hilton was a hotel heiress and socialite who had everyone saying “that’s hot” after a stint on her own reality show. She also introduced the world to Kim Kardashian, whom Paris had hired as a closet organizer. Kardashian appeared on a 2003 episode of Hilton’s reality show The Simple Life, and was soon a constant fixture in paparazzi photos of Hilton attending events and just out on the town.
The rest, as they say, is history and Kardashian’s popularity is now off the charts while many find themselves saying, “Paris who?”. Kardashian, however, seems to be forever grateful to her friend Hilton and even credits the DJ, perfume designer and hotel heiress for giving her a career. During a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim is in a makeup chair talking to sister Khloe and explaining how tired she is, but that she committed to film a music video for Paris for her single with Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, "Best Friend's A**." Khloe comments on how nice it is of Kim to film the video, especially since the shoot was just before this year’s Met Ball and the arrival of Kim and Kanye West’s fourth child, son Psalm.
"I really would wanna do anything for her," Kim told her sister of her former best friend and employer. "She literally gave me a career. And I totally acknowledge that… It's like, I'm trying to get everything done before the Met [Gala] and everything done before the baby comes, but I would drop it for her because that's important to me, to be loyal to people," Kim added.
"It will go a long way," Khloe responds, adding, “ A lot of people, no matter how they got their success, they wouldn’t say, ‘I got my career because of Paris,’ and they wouldn’t say, ‘I wanna do you a favor.’ They’d be like, ‘Haha, bitch, look who’s popping now,’ but you’re so sweet and kind.”
Kim isn’t the only doing favors either. Last year Paris was a part of a photoshoot to promote Kanye West’s season 6 Yeezy clothing line that featured a series of models and celebrities dressed like Kim while wearing clothing from the line. Paris told Entertainment Tonight at the time that she was happy to do it. "They called me and said that Kanye wanted me to be a part of the Yeezy campaign and then they came and got me ready," Paris recalled. "I looked in the mirror and I'm like, 'Oh my god! I look like a Kim clone!'"
Like Kim, she stated that she did the shoot because of the longstanding relationship she and Kardashian have. "We've known each other since we were little girls. It was a fun thing to do."
