School has been anything but normal for almost a year now. Schools were shut down in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic and students, teachers and parents were forced to work their way through online learning. Starting in September, a lot of school have switched to virtual models and while it seems that a lot of the kinds have been worked out, children are still not loving it. To make them seem even more normal, celebrity children are also struggling with virtual learning.

According to Today, Kelly Clarkson’s daughter has come up with a clever trick to get out of doing schoolwork. Kelly also spoke about it during an episode of The Kelly Clarkson show, and we don’t know whether to be concerned or proud of her creativity.

Children used to pull the whole “fake sick” thing to get out of school, but they are having to find new ways to get out of doing schoolwork, and Kelly’s daughter pretends to be frozen. River has a habit of pretending to be “frozen” during her classes to try and avoid doing schoolwork. The confession happened when Kelly was talking to a music teacher in her audience.

The music teacher was talking about how much she misses her students and how hard it has been to teach virtually. Kelly then said that she often catches her daughter staying completely still, like the screen has frozen. Kelly seemed to be impressed with her daughter, who she pointed out is only 6 years old, and her ability to know to pretend to be frozen so that her teachers will think there is a technical issue with the computer.

Kelly says that her daughter definitely gets points for creativity and comedy, but she wishes her daughter would “reel it in.” Kelly has opened up before about how hard it is to be learning virtually, and she used the word “interesting” in place of another word she wishes she could use.

This is something a lot of parents are feeling right now, because children were not meant to learn in front of a screen but this is what the world has had to do to stay safe and stop the spread of COVID-19. What River does is something that a lot of children try to pull, but it normally doesn’t work for too long and what’s left is parents laughing off screen at their child’s attempt to thwart the work they have to do.
